I am happier than a pig in.....you know!!
I had a meeting today with my son's teacher, principal and school psychologist.
They had nothing but good things to say about him!!!

Let me explain, I'll try to keep it as short as possible.

We kept him back in kindergarten because he couldn't even write his own name!
I have been working with him almost every day with his reading and writing.

It has paid off!!! :dancy:
His behavior has gone from 'troubled' to excellent!
He is well above grade level, so much that he is now THE top reader in his class!

This meeting has been almost monthly, and I dreaded going to every one.
The possible solutions to his problem and such just got on my nerves.
But I kept working with him.

It has paid off!!:ringaroun
The school is very impressed with his progress.
I've been telling him every day how good he's doing.

I walked out of that school this morning and almost did cart-wheels!! :woot:
Today I will let him know what went on in that meeting.
He'll be so proud of himself.

Sorry about the bragging/rant, I couldn't resist!! :D

I was like that when I was little, although it lasted for 4 1/2 years, because I was labled as a very troubled child, so I know what it is like... and I know that it takes a lot of work to pay off! so congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats to you and your little one! I wish more parents would take the same care in the raising of thier kids.

My 9 yr old was an at risk child due to ADHD but with help, alot of coaching from Aurora, some added help from me and the love and understanding of his teacher's, he is now reading 6th-7th grade material and he is in 3rd grade!!!!

Just goes to show if parents care, the child will excel.

Again, congrats and Brightest Blessings to you both.

Peace!

Well Done! Congratulations to you both. We held both of our children back one year, and despite dire warnings from other venues, they are both thriving in school. It is often the best decision a parent can make in their child's school experience.

And well done again for the hard work you all put into making this a positive and coming out on Top!!!!

Thank you everybody!!
You should of seen the look on his face when I explained the report to him!!
It was like this --> :bug:

Then he had that ear to ear grin.
He is so proud of himself.
It's days like this that make it all worth while!!

Now that I had time to come down from my parent high!! :D

Lisa did her share as well.
She worked with him every bit as I did.
I mainly worked on getting him to read and write while she got him to stay on task.
Which was no small task itself.

It's not fair for me to take all the credit for this.
Now the fun part will be keeping him going the same way.
He knows he did real good in school so he may want to slow down.

I won't let him and niether will Lisa!!
One good thing is NOW he wants to do his homework instead of after dinner like normally we do!!

I think I'll let him. :D

Again thank you everybody.
