Using the tarot cards for healing offers a way to step outside ordinary consciousness and discover an intuitive connection between you, the healer within and a universal healing force. The cards' images are filled with healing energies that direct you towards wholeness. Wellness is body, mind and spirit in balance. Tarot reveals areas that are out of balance and gives advice on the best ways to restore order.
The Four Levels of Illness and Healing
In illness and healing, there is no separation between body, emotion, mind and spirit. It is impossible to be ill without all four levels of existence being affected. It is likewise impossible to heal without attending to these same four levels of being.
Try this spread when feeling "out of ease" with any areas of your life. It will pinpoint situations that are no longer useful. If you like a card, it shows where you are strong. If a card is challenging, it will either be a clear depiction of your wounding or show you what you need to release for healing to occur.
If you have a specific health concern, concentrate on it while shuffling the cards and relate the information of the spread directly to your concern. The layout roughly follows the alignment of our chakras, or energy wheels along the spine.

Card 3 Card 4
Card 1 Card 2
Card 1: The physical plane of illness: What is your body trying to tell you? What messages for change in lifestyle or thinking do physical symptoms carry?
Card 2: The physical plane of healing: Advice about Card 1. What action can you take on your own behalf to support the healing process on the physical level?
Card 3: The emotional plane of illness: The role of your emotions in "dis-ease". What messages of wounding do your emotions convey? Fear frequently shows up here.
Card 4: The emotional plane of healing: Advice about Card 3. What action can you take on your own behalf to support the healing process on the emotional level?
Card 5: The psychological plane of illness: The way your mind works. Describes how thought processes may interfere with health and wellness.
Card 6: The psychological plane of healing: Advice about Card 5. What action can you take on your own behalf to support the healing process on the psychological level?
Card 7: The spiritual plane of illness: Describes areas of life that interfere with spiritual well being. Ask these questions: Are you being true to your authentic self ? Have you set up the wrong life for you?
Card 8: The spiritual plane of healing: Advice about card 7. What action can you take on your own behalf to support the healing process on the spiritual level? Many times, cards indicating creativity, developing intuition, changing jobs, ending worn-out relationships, saying no, nurturing self or the need to play will show up here.
Powerful healing does not emerge from laboratories and technological advances. Instead, it is the use of self, in a loving and compassionate way, which provides us with our most powerful tool for healing. Health and happiness are in "in the cards" for you.
