The inspiration for L.S. Curtis's "Bugs Begone" brew came from an article she had read in Phenomene News by Karen Hill-Stokes and her all time favorite Essential Oils resource, The Complete Book Of Essential Oils & Aromatherapy by Valerie Wormwood.

This is for use not only to repel the flying nasties, but whenever a case of head-lice appears in the children's school with great results. It is safe and non-toxic (but do avoid getting it in the eyes), and is much more pleasant to the nose than Deep Woods Off.

What you need: 3 oz spritz bottle
2-oz witch hazel
1-oz carrier oil/lotion (can use any vegetable oil as base)

Mix witch hazel and carrier oil in spritz bottle. Add the following essential oils in these amounts: 20 drops eucalyptus oil, 20 drops cedarwood oil, 20 drops lavender oil, 10 drops tea tree oil, 10 drops geranium oil, 10 drops cypress oil, and 10 drops of citronella oil. Shake well before each use. When applying to face, spray on hands and then rub on the face, avoiding the eyes. Apply as necessary.

The sun is shining. Summer's warmth is finally here. It'd be a shame to be stuck in doors because of our little creeping and flying relations. So get out there and enjoy yourselves -- bug free, of course.
