A local solicitor applied for planning permission to build an extension on his (already large) house, which meant he would have to cut down a beautiful 120 year old Yew Tree.
The house is in a Conservation area, and the Tree has a Tree Preservation Order on it.
Neighbours have protested, thay all want the Tree to stay.

But the solicitor, who obviously had contacts or influence somewhere, has today had his wish, and the Tree is now gone.
So very sad.

That's terrible! In Europe, there are yew trees that are at least a 1000 years old! They are very long living. Can you get a branch of the Yew & make it into something to remember the Tree by? Yew wood is good for making a staff or a wand maybe.

Too late. They got their permission and got rid of it straight away before anyone knew.

I guess that was their plan...do the deed & if anyone complains, then it's too late. Some people never learn....
