Ok, I use those dolloar store candles, and they usually last about 3-4 hrs. And leave behind puddles of wax. The norm.
But when I was using my white ones, one of them burned all night, well into the morn. and left NOTHING behind but the metal thing that holds the wick......
That has never happend b/f...
And last night I started using red, and the same thing happend.
It is odd b/c there is nothing left, it looks like i didn't even light one...

*looks at u strangly* ohk then...well does the wax melt off for the time you're watching it? Where do you store your candles as they burn overnite? Are you SURE you lit them at all?:eyebrow:

Some wax is just better than other waxes, more pure or something. Also adding stearic acid helps them to burn more completely. CandleLite (tm) makes candles that burn completely away, but they cost quite a bit more than the ones from the dollar store.
Depending on what the candle is used for, some people save the leftover bits and use them to make new candles. Other times they bury them leftover bits.

The higher quality the candle, the less mess it leaves behind. My candles burn clean....no wax puddle afterwards. I can leave them burning until they burn out and theres nothing left but a little piece of burnt wick :)

Some candles have a very high oil content specifically so they will not leave a puddle. I don't like them. I need the puddle to seal the spell when it's done.

While everyone so far has given some very valid scientific reasons for all the wax burning away I have an alternate view.
I was taught that when using candles for work…the way that they burned was almost as important as setting the lights in the first place. Or at least the way they burned could provide valuable feedback on how effective the work was.
Just a couple quick examples…
When a candle burns completely away like yours…I have always taken that to mean that while the work was very effective, much more energy was needed to accomplish my goal. Where on the reverse of this…if say a candle were to go out for some reason, say at its mid point, then it’s an indication that I need to re-think my goals and objectives…perhaps I am not doing things for the right reasons…or meddling where I shouldn’t be…etc.
A lot of folks also pay very close attention to the wax remnants. The globs of wax left over from a candle can in some cases be a very effective scrying medium.
Just something to think about… =)

In what way do you use the wax puddle?? Do you bury it or something to seal the spell? Just curious :)
