View Full Version : Hmm...how about a Coven?

Hey Everyone,
I've been recently considering searching for pagans around my area to get together a couple times a week. At first I just wanted to form a kind of learning environment with other people around me, since I work better with people...I'm a people person:). But then one of my friends brought up the idea of a Coven. Is it a good idea? Should I just look to learn with other people first and see what happens? Is anyone in one that wouldn't mind telling me about it?
Just some questions to throw out there. Hopefully someone can answer and help me!
Thanks a million!
Blessings

I think covens are a great idea, though some will say it is a waste of time...
I do suggest working within a "study group" first, feeling out how well people in your area work together.
The main problem with a coven is diversity... diversity is good among individuals, but usually hinders the growth and operation of a successful coven. In most cases, simply keeping with the "study group" atmosphere is the best solution for those looking to start a coven... IMO.
I do wish you luck though, covens can be much more rewarding than going it alone... then again, most people can get everything they would need/want from a coven simply from a group of friends getting together regularly, and without the "hassles" of disciplined organization.

You might try a learning group first. With covens come titles, responsibility, politics, money, and organization... :)
Btw, where in Ontario are you located? I have a lot of Pagan friends and help run an annual festival in southwestern Ontario so maybe we could chat?

Let me just say that joning a Coven was one of the best and smartest things I ever did. This may be because I am in an increddibly cool Coven, but I think the group working together is far more satisfying for me than solitary work, or even just working in a couple setting, as I often did before being initiated into the sublime mysteries of Wicca.
However, I do not know if the experience of being in a Coven is the same outside of the context of Trad Wicca.

Adia, PM me if you wish...let me know what area of Ontario you're in...there are a couple of us that are planning on forming a study group for starters; it may develop into a coven, depending on how we all get along...!!!
Let me know, okay?
