I have an appointment on Sat to get lucky number 7. I am getting a celtic knotwork design - the cait sith - that someone (I am sorry, but I can't remember who  )here at MW helped me find when I first joined.

So I need help with the color scheme. This one will go on the base of my neck. Right below this spot is my ankh, which is indigo fading into a nice eggplant purple. Below that is my scarab (my fave) that has all these lovely pinks, purples and blues. Below that is my Eye of Horus, which is black. I was going to stick with the Egyptian motif on my back, but lately the Celtic legends and faiths are strongly talking to me.

Here is the pic:

I have always found the best way to decide which colours go together is by looking a nature. Do you ever see 2 flowers which colours clase. Take a look. You will instinctively know which colours to pick.

Just to let you know all my tatoo are black.

How about greens and blues? It would match with your purples, pinks, and blues and it would be ocean colors....

Use complimentary or analogous (sp?) colours and you can't go wrong. But, in a pince go off of colors that occur in nature.

my hubby does tattoo work, and is mind blowing with the color. sometimes he does something on me, and i am like "whoa, are you sure?" but in the end it always looks great. so my advice would be to make sure your artist is someone who can do more than just tattoo off of paper. there is a dif. some can only do the flash off wall. others can go from what is in there head. check around see what they have previously done. find a good color artist and talk/ work with them to find what works for you.

I am with you, blugirrl. The guy I used to go to just moved to California, which stinks. He was absolutely brilliant with color. The guy I am going to tomorrow is a great artist (he is the kind of guy that hates to do flash), but I haven't seen a lot of interesting color work - he does a lot of tribal. So I am trying to decide if I just want one solid color, or if I want to ask him to spice it up a bit.
