Trying to reconnect with my cards

I have not touched my cards in...oh.... over 8 months. I have been wanted to start reading again, but have completely fallen out of the habit. I also feel unconnected to them. I am not sure if I should start over from a complete beginner's standpoint or do I just cleanse them and jump right back in?
I tried to read over one of my Tarot books, but I couldn't really get into it. But at the same time I have forgotten so much.

How do you reconnect after taking such a long break?

As I see it - the best way to connect to a deck or reconnect is to start using it - Why don't you start with simple daily readings for yourself. 3 card spreads that tell you how your morning will be, how your afternoon will be, and how your evening will be.

I suppose you could do as I did and sleep with them under your pillow, carry them with you, take them out and just hold them and shuffle them on occassion infusing them with energy....and the daily readings is a good idea too....altho they may not feel too accurate at first. Try meditating on each individual card...I love doing that. I feel like I'm visiting an old friend.

What I'm doing (once again) is starting from beginner level, as much as I hate to do it.
