View Full Version : Anyone want a geomantic reading?

I'm sorely out of practice with making geomantic charts, and I'm charging up new tools to boot, so if anyone has a specific question they'd like answered (and it does seem to require a specific question - AFAIK, there's no such thing as a 'general reading' in geomancy), let me know! I'd like to do a couple today and a couple more over the weekend. :)

I'd love one :)...hmmm question, lets see? We have a legal issue pending....??? Can you give me any insight into the outcome?

Sure! Maybe a little later tonight (I always forget how detailed and intense these readings can be), but I'd be happy to help. Just PM me the question you want to ask so I don't forget. *L* :)

If you are still doing them I have a question you can try to answer for me

That sounds interesting Cal. Are you taking any more on today (Sat)?
I'll pm you my question. If you would like some Reiki in return, I'd be happy to trade. :)

Cal sent me my reading and I just wanted to tell you guys it is absolutely fascinating. I don't know how he stored all that information in his head, but it's an amazing form of divination. He was right on the money......Thanks Cal... :yourock:

Ok, folks, I've got three more in the queue (Hope, Fairywolf, and Chrissy), but there's been a complication - My computer died. So I'm either going to have to look really dumb in the lab doing Geomancy while I wait for the local Wonderful Geeks to fix it, or I'm going to have to do them at home then cart my big fat journal to the lab and do the interp from there. Either way, it's going to be a bit slow. Too bad I couldn't figure out how to use Geomancy to tell if the problem with my computer was the motherboard or the power supply. :(

*L* Yeah, it's cool and easy to make and denotes fans of 8-bit Theatre. I stole the idea from someone over at the It's Walky! boards, myself. :)

Faeawyn:
Naah, I don't have to keep too much in my head.. it's more like a checklist. "Ok, witnesses and judge. Ok, now, way of the points. Now triplicities. Now House Chart. Now aspects. Now..." :)

what is a geomantic reading? I'm not familiar with those

That bites about your compyuter. But thanks- and take your time. I appreciate you doing this. :)

Ciel asked for more explanation, and since I can't quite figure out how to attach an image to a PM (and, I figured more folks would be interested), I'm posting a sample chart here.

The attachment is probably pretty darn big, but I don't have the tools to resize it in this lab, I'm afraid. If someone can make it smaller and yet still readable, that'd be fantastic.

I'll post an explanation of the chart a little later - right now I have to go see if my computer is ready to come home from the shop. Yay.

I'll also point out that I tried to remove any indication of who this reading was for or what the question was - it's almost impossible to read a chart without knowing the question that was asked.

The chart in the middle is the Shield Chart, the chart at the bottom is the House Chart.

Hi, everyone. Cal's having some difficulties right now, so I'm posting this for him! I'll probably be contributing to this thread for him for the next little bit, if he has anything he needs to get out to you all!
Plus this is helping me understand geomancy a little more! :)

Making the Shield Chart
The first thing you'll notice are the dots. Each set of fourlines of dots is a geomantic figure. Each line represents an element. From topto bottom, the first line is Fire, the second is Air, the third is Water, andthe last is Earth. Two dots on a line indicate that the element is passive or inactive, one dot indicates that the element is active.

So, for instance, take the first figure on the top, theFirst Mother. This figure is made of inactive fire, active air, active water, and inactive earth. Together, they make Conjunctio, which indicates aninteraction of forces, for good or for ill, or unstable energy that can causeevents to move in unexpected directions.

The first four figures, the four Mothers, are generatedrandomly. Traditionally, they'd be generated by zoning out and drawing fourlines of dots on the ground with a stick, like this:

...............

.......

..................

............

Without counting.

Then you count up the dots on each line. An odd number ofdots in a line indicates that that element is active, an even number indicatesthat that element is passive. In the above example, the first line has 15 dots, the second line has 7, the third has 18, and the last has 12. The figurecreated from that would look something like this:

.

.

..

..

Active fire, active air, passive water, and passive earth, makes the figure called Fortuna Minor.

The remaining three mothers are generated in the samefashion, and place in the Shield Chart (middle chart on the page) from right toleft (so, backwards from how you normally read things). Then you can put awaythe tool you use to generate figures - the random part is over.

The next set of figures (to the left of the Four Mothers)are the Four Daughters. They're generated from the Four Mothers. The fire lineof each mother forms together to make the First Daughter. For instance, in thesample chart, the fire line of the First Mother is inactive, Second Mother isactive, Third Mother is active, and Fourth Mother is inactive. Putting themtogether as one figure makes Conjunctio again. First Mother is the fire line,Second Mother is the air line, Third Mother is the water line, and FourthMother is the earth line. This procedure is repeated with the remaining linesin the Mothers to make all Four Daughters.

The third set of figures are the Four Nieces. They're theones on the second line of the Shield Chart. Each Niece is made throughaddition of the two figures above it. For instance, the First and SecondMothers combine to make the First Niece. Add the dots on both fire lines - ifthe result is odd, the Niece's fire line is active, and if the result is even, the Niece's fire line is passive. In the sample chart, the fire line of theFirst Mother has 2 dots, and the fire line of the Second Mother has 1 dot.Adding those together makes 3, which is an odd number, therefore the fire lineof the First Niece will be active, and have a single dot.

The First and Second Mothers make the First Niece, the Thirdand Fourth Mothers make the Second Niece, the First and Second Daughters makethe Third Niece, and the Third and Fourth Daughters make the Fourth Niece.Hopefully that's a bit clearer on the chart than it is in words.

The next set of figures are the Witnesses and the Judge. They're made the same way the Nieces were, except you combine the Nieces to getthem. The Right Witness is made from the First and Second Nieces, and the LeftWitness is made from the Third and Fourth Nieces. The Judge is made from theWitnesses. The Shield Chart is now complete.

Making the House Chart

The chart at the bottom is the House Chart. It's not nearlyas tough to make as the Shield Chart, because it's basically just another formof the Shield Chart.

If you look closely, you'll notice numbers in each triangle.Every triangle is a House. There are lots of ways to convert the Shield Chartto the House Chart - the Order of the Golden Dawn has some of the morecomplicated ones - but traditionally you simply put the figures from the ShieldChart into the House Chart in the order they were generated. The First Mothergoes to the First House, the Second Mother goes to the Second House, and so onto the Fourth Niece (the Witnesses and Judge don't show up on the House Chart).Just remember that the Shield Chart is laid out from right to left, not fromleft to right!

***

A little later I'll post how to read the charts, if anyoneis interested, and/or the meanings of each of the 16 figures as I read them.Right now, I'm out of steam. :)

I tried ( I really did) to send you a PM, but I was denied:(

Are you still doing the readings?

Guys, Calzaer's been permanently banned. You may still be able to send him an E-mail if you still want a reading, though - try the E-mail form, if that's available, as that should still work.
