This is an outtake from: The Cosmic Tribe Tarot by Eric Ganther/Stevee Postman
Door of Perception:
This is a good spread for a goal-oriented question. The door is what you will need to go through to get to your goal on the other side. Lay four cardsout in a door pattern with the fifth card in the center as the key and handle. <this layout is similar to the Elemental Spread: East, South, West, North, Spirit> (this is what the layout for Door of Perception looks like)

The cards on the outside mark the jambs, the lintel, and the threshold, representing energies that converge on the door handle and affect your ability to pass through and achieve your goal.
Position One: what you will need to bring with you to move forward; the foundation. Be careful not to trip over this one.
Position Two: what you will need to consider from the practical, rational, or logical perspective.
Position Three: what you will need to deal with to get through such obstacles.
Position Four: what you need to consider from the intuitive side, including your creativity and the possibility for unconventional methods.
Position Five: the key, the way through the door, the outcome of combining the four elements, the act of passing through to what lies behind the door. Be open to the many ways your goal could manifest.
As an example, say your goal is a new job. If you get the Two of Pentacles in postion one, it could mean that you will need to bring flexibility as to which job you will take when they are offered to you. Teh Queen of Wandsin position two may indicate your need to be assertive and powerful with your resume or your job interview. The Ten of Pentacles in position three may mean you will need to deal with issues around distribution of weath. Death in position four could mean letting go of something you value, like lots of free time, if you want to find exciting employment. And with the Universe in position five, your new job will draw on many of your skills and open you in new and exciting ways.
