8 glasses a day?

Hey all,

I was wondering... we all know we're supposed to get at least "8 glasses of water a day". But NO ONE ever says, what SIZE of a glass. Or gives an all round figure in general of what we should be drinking.

Does anyone actually KNOW what you're meant to drink daily?

Obviously you should drink as much as possible, but as a bare minimum? I'm curious.

It's 8 8oz. glasses. Most regular drinking glasses hold 16oz. One measuring cup is 8oz.

I have both size glasses, and sometimes go for the big ones, and drink about 4 a day, and sometimes I have little 8oz ones. I had figured it must be 8oz glasses, but nobody ever specified!

I have a 1lt bottle I like to fill. Which is why I wanted to know. I fill it up many times during the day and keep it with me. It's 33.8oz So I wanted to do the math to see if I was above or below the recommended. :)

actually, you are supposed to have 1/2 your weight in onces unless that brings you below 64ozs...

At 220, i drink 110ozs

obsioulsy this only works for lbs and ozs...

I drink 3.5 liters aday...

but the good news is, all the water virtually illiminates PMS symptoms...

I've never heard that before. I guess I better stick with the 8 glasses thing then because I have no idea what I weigh (don't believe in scales, just in how I feel). I only find out how much I weigh once each year when they insist on weighing you for a pap smear LOL And I forget each year what the number is! Not to mention that I still aren't used to thinking in pounds and ounces... it's all grams and kilograms to me!

I was just thinking that. No way in heck I'm standing anywhere near a scale save the one doctor's exam wherein I have to once a year ;)

I prefer water when it's ice cold, even better with ice-cubes in as well, and maybe a slice or 2 of fresh lemon. YUMMYYYYY!!!!!
Got a water machine at work with the most delicious ice cold spring water in, we drink gallons of it. Think I'll start counting to see how many gallons i get through each day!

Yep, I do the eight glasses of water a day...more actually...it's earned me a nickname here at work...my name isn't 'Rae' anymore: it's 'Rae-and-her-water-bottle'!!!!

Ack! That reminded me of this horrible commercial that's out for an incontinence medicine. There's an older couple in a car, and the woman keeps making him pull over...At one point she's like "You better pull over, or we're going to float to Phoenix!" Yech!
