I dont know if this has been posted before, but I'm really looking into beginning to work with Fairies. I was wondering if anyone had any tips, ideas or suggestions as to how to attract them to my home and get to know them, as well as work with them.
I dont have a garden so i cant make a little place for them to play.. the only real place where i can leave little offerings for them is my altar...
any suggestions?

You actually WANT to attract faeries :hairraise? Just kidding :). They can really raise your blood pressure sometimes when they've stolen that $20 crystal... grr.
Try inviting faeries into a circle and offering to share your bread & juice with them. Faeries I've met love it if you share your food with them, though some are a little wary.
You could set up a shelf end or windowsill to make it attractive to faeries. Decorate it with glittery decorations and fabrics, twigs or feathers, some little shiny objects and maybe some gems (NOT gems that are very special to you, the faeries might physically remove them!). Faeries love honey, bread, sweet juice or nectar, biscuits... you might want to leave offerings there... just don't forget to remove them before they go off!
Faeries love to turn up unexpectedly during a ritual or magickal study-session. Just yesterday I was writing a ritual and some faerie flits through the window and flies around my head, distracting me from my work and talking in nonsensical riddles :p. They like to disappear unexpectedly, too :(... Faeries truly are free-spirits. One day they've made a home beneath your computer desk, next day they've gone without saying goodbye...

thanks so much for the tips! I'm gonna start working on it tomorrow :)
I adore fairies, i love their mischief! (something tells me I'm going to be regreting what I say once I get some sort of expensive gem stollen lol)..
Thanks again!

It might sound like a funny recommendation but you might want to check out Brian Froud's Faeries Oracle. Not only are the images of the fey quite beautiful, but the book has recommendations for connecting with the wee folk. One is dancing, not in any regimented way. Just dancing and inviting them to join you. I'll have to see if I can find my copy of the book to look up the details.
I've personally never tried contacting them so I can say for sure how it works.

Faerie dancing is wonderful! I do it all the time.. just turn on some random dance music, invite them to join you (either by intent or by actually speaking, whatever's comfortable) and just dance. I think I remember reading that you're in tune with energy...? You should get along great with them. They usually are truly energy beings, and communicate with us through sharing energy flows.. Although I will echo the suggestion of watching your shiny valuables if you invite them around. They kept my promise ring for 3 weeks when I invited them.. silly little things.

OOO OOOO OOOOO! hehe Hello!! Last year sometime I was walkin around a craft store just seein if anything would pop out and say "BUY ME BUY ME!" and I saw this adorable little bird house. It's obviously decorative because the opening is really tiny(no bird could ever go inside it) Its really cute though, a house thats all pastel colors(green pink blue) covered in glitter and theres this cute bear on top of it. When I bought it I was thinking, yeah this is cute I can hang it up outside somewhere..when I got home I realised there was nowhere for it to go, so its been sitting on my windowsill ever since. They LOVE it! The opening is perfect for them and they zoom in and out of it all the time. I don't know if its the colors or the glitter or the size but they took to it right away. I'd spice up the inside for them but I cant get in there hehe
So yeah I don't know if someone else has said this already but A bird house would be a good little place for them. You could make it yourself so you can paint the inside and put some things in there they would like, gems, crystals, coins, maybe even some noise makers or anything you think would make them happy and want to stay there. Also you could make an opening big enough so you can put offerings for them inside the house or make a little porch to put it on.

I'll tell you guys what I'm going to do....I'm going to go ahead and post all my fairy info, but I've had it for ages and I don't know where it came from....and now I'm all paranoid about infringing on peoples copy rights and stuff....so if anyone recognizes any of the info, please let me know, and I'll edit it to include the authors names. :)
When venturing into Faery magick, make sure all your tools are made of silver, copper or woods as they are sacred to the faery. Oak is best.\
If using gemstones, the most appropriate are quartz crystal, rose quartz, moonstone, blue quartz, amethyst, selenite, labradorite and amber.
To guard against mischievious spirits, it’s best to use flint.
A Faery Blessing
by Cerridwen Cerrifaery
To the Faery Folk
High and low
Blessed Be and Blessed go.
In perfect love
In perfect trust
You may depart if you must
But pray, stay if you will
All aglow and Peace be still.
Faery Wish Magick
Items you will need:
a pinch of glitter as an offering
Put down your offering. Say aloud:
"Faeries of the air, I call you now, accept this offering, with love from me to you!"
Close your eyes. Spend a moment open and receptive to your energies and those around you. When you feel you are no longer alone, take out your glitter and hold it in your hand. Focus on your wish. When your wish has been visualized and projected, Toss the glitter into the air. Cry out:
"Faeries of the air, carry away my wish,
across the never-ending skies,
up into the ethers, forever and more
To Meet a Faery
Don't take this lightly. The Fey Folk are wild, and their integrity so strong and unusual that you must be careful with them. However, if you approach one correctly, he\she can be an honorable, powerful and delightful friend and ally.
If you find you cannot handle the power of this rite, courteously end the visit. If an evil entity arrives by accident, end the visit, either with courtesy or rudeness, whichever is safest and most effective.
Do each numbered step before going onto the next.
Focus on the darkness of the mind's eye, the darkness that's automatically there when your eyes are closed. See that darkness filled with a glowing green, a Faerie green, a magic glow. Feel that magic, green, Fey glow start swirling around you, bathing you in its beauty, bathing you in its magick.
Enjoy drinking in that magic for a minute. Let that Fey power feed you, cleanse you, and give you things you need. Let it work its magic on you. Into that green mist, call out for a Faerie friend. Don't demand a visit, for we do not control the Fey Folk. Invite with warmth, courtesy, good will and good cheer. Greet and welcome your visitor with dignity and courtesy. Ask his\her name and his\her need of you. If no name is given you, usually you should end the visit. When you meet someone on the physical plane who will not tell you their name, there is usually something awry, right?
Never lightly make an agreement with a Faerie. They take commitments seriously. And are tricksters, who often have an unusual view as to what life should be like. You may not want the same goals as they. Visit. Then do the following steps. If you fall asleep, your visit might be happening on an unconscious level so you will still need the following steps upon awakening. If you would like, ask your visitor for something you need. Make thanks for the visit, and for any help you were given. At this point it may be appropriate to give or promise a gift, E.G. a bit of food and drink left out at night. Perhaps this spirit will become your friend for a while or even a lifetime. You can use this ritual to visit with him\her again. But for now say "Farewell." After doing something like this ritual, one might be in an altered state without realizing it. If you then do something like drive, walk at night along a city street, or cook, you could possibly go through a red light, get mugged, or burn yourself, all because you were off in another world!
So, after you finish step 12, do the following two steps: Spend some time consciously focusing on the embodied, mundane plane by making your mind concentrate on physical things. Then continue this focusing by looking both ways carefully when crossing streets or paying special, conscientious attention to kitchen safety or whatever focus is appropriate to the activity in which you become involved.
If you're feeling really spacey or "out there" add body stretches or do some other very physical but safe activity that will focus you onto your own body.
Full Bloom Spell
Now summer is in full bloom. And wouldn't you know it, fairies just
love a flower garden! Their favorite plants include foxglove, bluebell,
marigold, cowslip, snapdragon, and morning glory. You can attract them with
ornaments that jingle or sparkle, too, such as wind chimes or suncatchers.
Those big glass gazing balls are definite fairy magnets. All the better if your
garden includes moving water, such as a fountain or sprinkler, and a place
to hide, such as a ceramic "toad abode" or a rock pile. When you work outside,
you can also sing:
Now I've made a sacred space,
Fairies welcome in this place.
I won't peek, and I won't tell.
You can stay here safe and well.
Fairy Guardians
Ingredients
A White Candle
Tiny Cup
Tiny Plate
Milk
Oatmeal or an oatmeal cookie
Fairy Sugar or Fairy Honey
Directions
First Make Your Fairy Offerings:
Mix Milk with the Fairy Sugar or Honey(one or the other but not both) Make a bit of oatmeal with the honey or sugar drizzled on top.
Light Candle in a Window and
Say 3 Times:
"Precious Fairies Of the Day/Night Keep My Loved Ones Safe Today/Tonite;
Keep Them Breathing,Safe, and Warm Watch Them Till the Night/Day Is Born."
Take the Fairy Treats outside and place the in a place you think the Fairies will like and say this is for the Fairies. Don't Say
"Thank You"
Fairies get offended when Thanked.
Now I also have a list of fairy oils and incenses to attract them to your rituals, but I'll have to email those to whoever wants them. Just leave my your email addy and I'll send them to you :)
