Help we need some suggestions on free places for showers between the two places. Anyone got any ideas we are driving straight through. 2 adults, 4 kids, 3 cats, 3 lizards, 1 snake and fish! No hotel would take us all so it's a straight shot deal. We are open to suggestions

Truck stops...usually you can shower at most Truck stops. I mean 18 wheeler stops by the way. :)

You could probably get some info from Truck (uh, whats the word) stations? The places that the drivers load and unload...etc. Might check that..

You can stop here in good ol Oklahoma if you need to... :)

Most truck stops require you to be in an 18 wheeler or at least they did in 93. That may have changed. I'll check. I don't know what route we're taking yet but we are moving out or at least getting the truck April 26. Thank-you for the offer of a shower stop we might take you up on it. This move is costing our last dime but at least out there the cost of living won't kill us. lol

I know that some bigger gas stations that cater to tractor trailers here in Kentucky have showers in the stations. And laundries.

Thank-you guys! Anything that cuts the cost on this is fantastic to me. I groveled to Ryder and got the truck for 10 days for less than $700 so I'm jazzed! Now it's cost reduction everywhere else. If you could let me know the average gas prices in your states both for deisel and regular ( I don't know what the truck takes) that would help alot too. May all you hope for that's good for you come true. Thank-you again.

Deisel, I couldn't say, but I know that "regular" car/truck gas varies from town to town ~ or even side of town. Right now, it's $1.49 a gallon for "unleaded plus" at the Shell FoodMart down the street; but in the next town South, it's $1.59 for the same thing. (and I'm in the bigger town!). So ....
