Hey all I need some help I have been looking everywhere for a blessing or ritual i can do during the early stages of labor or after the baby's birth. I am due Aug 26th and have been looking throughout the whole pregnancy for something... for some reason i am drawing a total blank about even a format to use to write my own ... this bothers me as i can write them for friends at the drop of a hat i think i am just too close to it and need to step back for a moment and ask for advice.

WHat I am looking for is something that will honor the God and Goddess and bless the baby while at the same time protect her till she gets old enough to develop ways of protecting herself... another thing i am looking for is either a relaxation technique or a ritual i can do to help relax and ease labor as this is my first child and the Dr's have estimated her to be about 9 lbs at birth... the idea of that scares me right now and i need something to focus on besides the size of the baby and the pain involved in bringing her into the world

I probably should have put this in the family section but i didn't think as many people would read it and i need help soon as my anxiety level feels like it is going through the roof lately... please feel free to share your horror stories and your miracles and blessings as I want to hear both ... i look forward to hearing from you all and thanks in advance for the advice.

See if you can find a book called Everyday Magic by Dorothy Morrison. It has a few spells in there including one for an easy labor.

have you thought of maybe planting a tree in his/her honor after the baby is born as part of the ritual? IMO...it's best to make these celebrations up, on your own, instead of using someone elses. But..that's just my opinion. Just fill it with symbols that are meaningful to you and the child.....you might think of giving the baby a magickal name from birth, that only you will know.

During the ceremony, include the baby's birth flower (i'm not sure what it is for august), on the altar...or perhaps..even plant some of these flowers somewhere. Just a couple of ideas :)
