Just wondering but have you ever been temporary possessed during a ritual?

Could you elaborate a little more on that? Do you mean an out of body experience, or the feeling that there is actually something inside you? Something good or something bad?

Well I most defiantly do not mean out of body experience. That is something 100% different. I mean possessed as in something inside of you. I know Voodoo priest and priestesses and so on will become possessed a lot during rituals. I know when people become possessed you know it. I have done it before. But I was not doing black magic either so it was not an evil feeling. But I was invited to a ritual to sit and watch. The Priestess (that is a friend of mine) said they were going to be working with a spell to bring an “unknown lover” into someone’s life. So that should be “White Magic” so I accepted the invite. At the start of the ritual they were using English so I could watch and understand everything very well. The ritual they was doing was a ritual that we use a lot, but you are also able to change the words and make the ritual be whatever you wish to use it for. That is why it is used a lot by us. About 15 to 20 min’s into the ritual the coven began using their own language (that is a very common thing to do for Natural/Universal Magic) The Priestess handed a glass of water with ashes to the person requesting the ashes. The person drank the water and the ashes as the Priestess begin to chant (a language I don’t know) and her voice completely changed in something you can’t describe. It was a very, very deep tone of voice with a cracking sound, kind of like a fire place popping is the best way I could describe it. At times it was a fast speaking voice and at other times it was a slow speaking voice.
You talking about scared, I was scared. It was the most scared time I have ever had in a ritual. But one thing for sure the ritual had power I will not ever forget.

ythen there was once i witnessed something shadow like jump into a friend of mine once, and she was speasking english, but compleete nonsense!
and the more she talked at that point the sicker i got
then moments later i leav, and run across another friend who says "do you ever get the feeling you are being watched by something other then human," and behind him, i saw a being that apeared to be made of light, that was working my friend like a puppet,

this was at a party i had.
and well the area most of the people where spending time at was where many rituals have taken place!

O.k. I don't usually tell this to people, but I feel open here. When I was younger I had a dream I was working with candles with a girl I had never seen. Then I fell backwards and felt something shoot up into my body. I woke up, and it literally felt like there was something inside me. Only I didn't feel any goodness to it at all. I started to pray out loud for protection, only it wasn't my voice coming out of my body. It was deep and raspy. I could feel myself being pushed down into myself. Then all of a sudden I felt whatever it was leave out of my body. I'm trying to put it into words but I can't. There isn't really a way to describe it unless I were to say, imagine a gust of wind moving through your body. I know I wasn't asleep either, because I wasn't able to go back to sleep the rest of the night. I usually won't talk about this because I get a really bad feeling whenever I do. I didn't think it would do it if I was writing but it has, so no more.

I think you're referring to riding the Loa (in the voudoun tradition- tho riding the Loa is more of an ecstatic experience).
In the western tradition people variously refer to it as
Drawing down (the moon)
Garment Assumption
Avatar assumption
godform Assumption
channeling
and many others. Most shamanic traditions (both east and west) have some form being filled with another intelligence (elemental, ancestor, animal spirit, godform, etc etc). It is often central to rituals related to prophecy and healing....such as the sybils or oracles of greece. It is a central component to some of the initiatiatory stages in Tantra. In some of the higher grades of the golden dawn, godform assumptions are used as a tool to promote spiritual alchemy (which is the same goal in true Tantra). I generally consider possession and ritual assumption of higher beings to be different things. IMO, possession involves a lower consciousness that is operating under its own agenda which is typically selfish or destructive. From what I've been able to gather, Godform assumption is common in the American revival of neo-paganism/wicca... apparently not as common elsewhere (I don't know why). Many groups I know combine some form of godform assumptions with the great rite in ritual. Most people who integrate drawingdowns to their tradition talk about 'overshadowing' of the god/goddess: sort of an extension of creative visualization. A true assumption can be quite startling- having the experience of looking through somebody else's eyes and hearing somebody elses' voice come out ofyour mouth can be quite confusing. I've had the experience of having languages come out of my mouth that my conscious mind has no clue of. The deep assumptions benefit the participants but the host priest/priestess typically has no recollection of the experience. Many healing traditions (both east and west) derive their power from the assumption of healing beings (call them angels, whatever). I'm not referring to new age crystal waving but traditions that have roots in shamanism. It's awesome stuff.

You're right, it's strong magicks.

i personally dont believe in white magick or black magick.
there is magick - period.
the one who handles the magick work directs it towards some sort of goal - the karma will come back accordingly, as well as the result.

just like each of us defines good & evil in a different manner - so that there cant be one specific true good, and one specific true evil - you cant define magick by "white" or "black".

i dont think you can become "possesed".. that word reminds me of the movie "the excorcist" or those church stories about "demons" taking over young innocent good christians..
One might get really into a ritual, and may go into a trance - but as to "possesed"? nah i dont think there is anything like that.

Maybe invoction of a power/energy - gods, elements, etc. But that is not possesed because possesed is more the power taking over you without your will or knowlege. In a ritual you invite this power/energy to help you in your magick work. You are aware of its presence and you invite it to your circle.

so my answer would be - no.

Morr I see what you mean but our terms of possessed is a bit different I think. And we also define white and black magic as white magic to help people or blessings and so on. We call black magic as in doing harm to others or putting obstacles in their way or anything where good will not come of it. And yes you are right Karma comes back on you if you do good or evil or whatever you call it. And yes when I say possessed I am talking about what you described. As in being aware of the spirits presence and so on. But the sound of the voice was not sounding very pleasant. But when the ritual was finished the Priestess was just fine and talking normal, as in back to her regular self again. And no we did not have to perform exorcisms and all of that. That is why I put temporally possessed. It is common for this to happen it was the sound of the voice that was the scary part.

i dont think magick can or should be labeled under a color system.
what if i perform a spell that is solely for the purpose of achiving something for myself, that neither helps others nor hurts others?
please dont say "gray" magick...

I agree that magic is neither black nor white, and even when you think you're doing something good it could turn out with some unforseen, harmful circumstances.

When I was 17, something very stranged happened to me. I had just gone to bed, and when I closed my eyes, I was suddenly inside of a dark room lying on a stone slab. There were people all around me holding me down...they were saying over and over "don't be afraid, we're not going to hurt you, its ok"..I'd open my eyes, and I was still in my room in my bed, but as soon as I shut them, they were back. I asked a psychic women who used to do readings for me and my grandmother about it....she said that something was trying to take me over, and those people standing around me were protecting me. It was strange, but her info was all I had to go on at 17

I haven't told anyone about this, but I *think* I was posesed once. This was about 3 years ago. I was just in this mood and a couple of my wiccan friends just happened to be over that day and kept giving me strange looks.

Then I had this overpowering urge to take a shower. So I go to get in the shower and my girlfriend goes in the bathroom with me. I take my shower and apparently had this entire conversation with her, but don't remember a damn thing. Then when I get out, I have all these huge red scratch marks all over my body-it looked like I just raked myself with my fingernails, but they were in places on my back that there is no way I could have reached them. Some of them were so hard that they flaked away the skin and were beginning to spot bleed. My girlfriend looks at me and asks whats going on. I couldn't explain it...but by the time I had dried off and gotten partially dressed, the marks just went away. I mean completely gone.

So our other friend goes into my daughters room (which had a not so nice spirit living in her closet) and comes running out and drags me and my girlfriend outside. My boyfriend looks at us like we are complete nuts. Anyway, he drags us outside and sits me under this huge tree in our back yard, casts a quick circle and both he and my girlfriend place their hands on me and chanted a few spells.

Within a few minutes I feel great, by my friend is pastey white and pulls off his socks and shoes, plants himself firmly in the dirt and attempts to ground himself.

From what they tell me (because at that time I had not gotten into wicca or had any kind of Pagan understanding at all), the spirit in my daughters closet placed himself in my body. So they essentially pulled him out and "grounded" him into the ground so that he could not return to my body or my house.

I can't honestly say what really happened, because I don't remember any of the details, but I do know that my daughter no longer had nightmares about a man in her room and I have no other way of explaining the scratches.

I absolutely have been "possessed". In my case it wasn't negative. It was my uncle. He's done it a few times and only when he's trying to tell me something. Usually telling me somethings about to happen. It was a very strange feeling. A heavyness in my chest and I couldn't talk, but I could move. The first time, I pinched myself to get him out becasue it scared the crap outta me. I didn't feel the pinches at all. Its a very strange sensation.
