I have read several different dream books and get 50 different answers to what a dream means, maybe someone can help me on a dream I have had...
I was walking through an old condemned house. It was covered in spider webs, I walked downstairs into the basement and this big huge spider(I mean big, huge like the size of a dinner plate) started bouncing across the floor (not running, not crawling, not jumping, but bouncing like a rubber ball) my husband hit at it and tried to kill it, well when he hit it, it fell on the floor and all of a sudden it turned into a broken wooden soldier and started crawling across the floor and then I woke up. :hairraise
How weird is that? In some books I have read that spiders means something negative or bad and in other books it means something good or positive. Can anyone help me on this? What should I make out of that dream? Maybe just that I am crazy LOL!!! I do believe that all dreams mean something, just not quite sure about this one.
Blessed be!

Try looking it up online, you might be able to find something there.

In my opinion, you are the best interpreter of your dreams. Everyone interprets symbols differently so that's why you would get 50 different answers if you asked 50 different people.
My opinion on your dream-
The house sounds kind of spooky since it's not taken care of and filled with spiders. It's the type of house that I wouldn't want to check out unless I was on a mystery adventure. Why were you checking out this house? Are you trying out something new right now in your life that may seem a bit risky? If so, be careful. I think that a spider may represent a potential problem. If your husband killed the spider, I think that the problem would be quickly overcome. However, right when you thought that the spider problem was over, it led to something new.
Remember that it's my interpretation. The most imeaningful interpretation of the dream would be yours.

Most likely the house represents some element of yourself or your past, like your subconscious or an abandoned part of yourself or an experience left behind. Spiders are a symbol of the Goddess, as such perhaps the emotional self, the feminine, the yin, the shadow side, the intuition, creativity. Perhaps this is part of yourself left behind at some juncture in your life. Perhaps your husband represents a part of yourself. The toy soldier? Don't know unless it's the masculine militaristic side that is left when the feminine side is driven out, or it could mean nothing. It might be the remembrance of an actual toy soldier you knew about once. Let me know if I'm close or not.

Well, I think in some aspects both of you are right! I did not like the dream. I woke up scared to death, at the time I had the dream it was a very stressful time in my life. About why I was in the house, I have no clue! There was no reason in the dream as to why I was even there. So you feel that the Spider represents the Goddess? That would be an interresting aspect to the dream. If that was the case, maybe I shouldn't have been as scared as I was when I woke up. Who knows, I would love to hear more interpretations of this dream by anyone.
Blessed be!

I completely understand the frustration, Simskathouse. The problem with dream books is that it is difficult to truly define one specific object in a dream, since it is how you interact with that object that reflects the actual meaning. Dream books may tell you that spiders are negative, but most of the time would not tell you what it would mean if you were to wack one down.
The other downside is that many dream books are based off of very different refrences. Some focus on the messages of nature or astrology, while others are based upon the effects of the subconscious (most of which can be compared off the works of Freud).
But let me see if I can help you out.
An old house that is not your own can represent what you believe others may think of you. Now, the condition of the house suggests that you see others as viewing you as experienced but perhaps tired or overworked, since the feeling I got from it really didn't seem entirely negative.
In the basement, which in the dream world can be related to social encounters with others, you come across a bouncing spider. I love the bouncing spider. But I agree with the dream book that it is often a negative sign, though only because of the bizarre way of which it presented itself...but the fact that your husband was able to defeat it is absolutely wonderful. Recently, I am betting, that your husband has given you support with something odd or difficult...and you may have been a little hesitant about his help.
And the broken little soldier crawling across the floor...seems to me to be a reflection upon an even earlier situation with your husband, not entirely related to the more recent one (the bouncing spider), but possibly similar...and this much earlier situation was something that you and your husband faught for. In other words, I believe that sometime in the past, you and he bonded closer with that particular happening. This more recent one may have reminded you of it.
...I'm not sure if I helped you or confused you further. But with the topic of dream books, I do believe that they can be helpful if you attempt to find a serious and in depth version...and can then try to personalize the object interpretations inside the book. This can take some practice, but with time, it can become easier.

Hello Raihn,
Thank you so much for your interpretation of this what seems a very crazy dream! I can see exactly what you are saying. Normally, I can get quite confused about things, but your ideas totally made sense to me, especially about the condition of the house. I had been EXTREMELY tired and wore down around the time I had that dream. My youngest son, Orion was going through A LOT of medical problems with having 8 surgeries and over 35 hospitalizations. He is only 4 and spent most of his life in the hospital, he is now doing WONDERFUL! Thank you so much for letting me know what you thought about this dream, in my mind I thought I was going crazy! I mean who ever dreams about a bouncing spider???
Blessed be!

Phew, I am so glad I didn't confuse you! *Chuckles* And I am also very glad that I was able to help make a little sense of the whole thing. I do know how some dreams can seem so crazy sounding that you begin to question your own sanity. Believe you me. :)
Oh, my. With your son going through so much, I can completely understand why you were very tired. It must have been such a difficult place in your life...and I am thrilled to hear that he is doing wonderful now! I wish the absolute best for both of you. Love can truly conquer any situation life may hand to us.
And I concur with your last remark! I've heard, and experienced myself, much stranger than bouncing spiders. Bouncing shrubs, even.
But again, I wish you the best. Feel free to pm me for any reason.

Share any time that you wish, but try not to leave Mystic Wicks entirely (Though I know that can be difficult at times with such a little 4-year-old bundle of energy that you've got :)).
But there are several posts floating out there that have said that Mystic Wicks is like a good luck charm for them...and I hope it will be the same for you. :hugz:

Well, I do get such incredible energy from this forum. I am a member of many forums (this is the only Pagen based one) and I will go and visit every once in a blue moon, but I love it here and I plan to stay. It is a very friendly forum and I hope to learn a lot of the members with being new at the whole Wiccan/Pagen beliefs. Thank you again, for your friendly insights and your kind words!
Blessed be!
