OK so we're talking about all the boy clothes and girl clothes and now i want to rant about shoes.
I have to wear casual or dress shoes to work and personally I prefer to wear casual lace up shoes and the ones I've been wearing for the past three years since I got this job, look like boy shoes but I don't care cause they're comfy, and i have to be on my feet a lot. Well I can't find them anymore. I went to buy a new pair of shoes and anything remotely like these have seams through them and I don't like that. I like PLAIN shoes. I have to like the way my shoes look when I look down at my feet when I have them on.
I also can't find tennis shoes that aren't all funky except for the "classic" styles and I don't like them when I look down  I must be weird or something.
AND I can't find any plain shoes for my daughter, 'most everything has some kind of character or SOMETHING all over it and it won't match anything, there for I have to go and spend $20+ more on a brand name shoe (which I wouldn't mind if her feet weren't growing like weeds) when I'm going to have to buy a new pair w/in 2-3 months.

Well...I can't help ya on this one...I'm a shoe freak. I buy a new pair of shoes just about every time I step foot in a store (pardon the pun) I love love shoes...all kinds, all styles :)

*laughs* I was shocked because this year has been the first in AGES where I've found more than one pair of shoes (in the *same* store even!) that I just had to have. I got a pair of hiking boots, a heeled sandal and two pairs of flat sandals....
My dad's comment: "Do you really need more than one pair?"
*raised eyebrow*

A fashion forum? Cool. But it might fit in the entertainment and sports forum.
As to shoes, hmm. I like DSW shoe warehouse - they have a huge selection and I frequently see stuff like you're describing there. They don't have a lot of kids shoes. They are the best store I know with regard to rewarding buyers - I constantly get discount coupns in the mail which have saved me tons of money. They have a scan your card kind of thing, like the grocery stores, but the rewards are much more real.

I have the hardest time finding shoes that fit. I have short feet, but they're wide. I also have to make sure that my orthotics will fit in the shoes *with* my feet. So it's no picnic going shoe shopping for me. Last couple of times I found shoes that I liked *and* fit, I finally smartened up and bought two pair. So at least I'm set with sneakers and work shoes for a while. I should probably look into "dress" shoes again.. Ugh. :fpatricks

I'm actually making my first pair of boots right now with the help of a friend. They're great - they're for SCA use, and they are made of red-brown elk hide, with cool spirals of pink leather sewn on the front. They're ankle boots that will lace on the sides (using bone buttons to wrap the lacing around).
I'm very pleased with the way they are progressing. I've never done anything like this before, and I'm off in a whole new world.
I will take them to a cobbler and have real, solid soles put on them to support my feet though. Not something I can really do.
One thing I really learned - I have seriously narrow feet - much worse than I thought, though I've always known it. No wonder it's hard for me to find shoes.

 @ fashion forum.... Sorry, I just had to! :)
I found the ones that I've been getting at a store called "famous footwear" and I think they might sell discontinued shoes or maybe they just had some left overs but I went to a few different stores and they didn't have anything remotely like these. As for tennis shoes, I buy 1-2 pair a year and I've been wearing two different pair for about a year now but I haven't started the tennish shoe hunt yet, so maybe I'll have better luck with that! (or at least I hope!)

Are you trying to turn on Thor?
I also like different type of shoes and I tend to like sandles and flip flops the most. I love to show off my feet for some odd reasons and flip flops and sandles are comforable. When I wear heels I like open toed heels. I think the only shoes that I have that are closed are sneakers and boots. I'm very picky about boots and sneakers too.
I only like plain white sneakers or sneakers with a little bit of color in it. I don't like any of those colorful sneakers. I tend to buy my sneakers at Payless, because they are only about $10.00, they are comforable, you can find white sneakers, and they last for more than 3 years.

I have wide feet, too, & have a pain finding shoes that fit. Especially for work, where I have to wear steel-toed boots. *sigh*
I haunt shoe stores, & if I find a pair that fits right, is comfortable, & I think looks okay, I'll buy it whether I need it or not. If I really like it, I'll buy a pair in every color made. Several years ago, I bought a pair of silver & gold glitter pumps that I've never worn, but they fit & were pretty. Lately, I've had luck buying from Massey's shoes, an online place with a great selection of wide & large sized women's shoes. www.masseyscredit.com
