Hey all,

First off, let me just say that this is not about the baby in my family who has been so terribly ill. This is about a baby who was orphaned tonite when a tree fell on the car of the baby's parents with her in it.

This happened right near my old hometown (where I've been trying to move back to) and this is why it hit so close to home for me.

The story is, they were driving down the highway and a tree just collapsed onto the car killing both the mother and the father--the baby seems to be fine. She is only 5 or 6 months old and now has lost her parents.

Ironically, when I was travelling down that same highway last week to go to my friend's funeral, I said to my mother, "look how those trees seem to be just hovering overhead. They look like they could give way any moment."

Well, I guess with the torrential rains we recently had, it loosened up the soil enough that one of the trees just went over.

Thankfully no one else was hurt. The tree did go over both the north AND southbound lanes of traffic and hit other cars...but only that one couple was killed. Sad as it is, it could've been much much worse.

So I ask you now to please send your thoughts to that little one who is now in the hospital waiting for her other family members to be notified. :(

Here is the story link for you: http://www.thejournalnews.com/update/updateaaa.htm

If that doesn't work (because it was a breaking news link that gets updated) try the main page:http://nyjournalnews.com (story: tree falls on suv on Saw Mill)

Thank you all. This one just got to me. :(

The update on this baby is that she is still in the hospital and her family has been notified. What is truly amazing is that when news of this story got out, the outpouring of phone calls to the hospital was overwhelming. People wanting to help this child in anyway that they could.

Sometimes, people are incredible. :hugz:
