As I sit here sipping my Godiva Chocolate Liquor....I'm wondering..what is your favorite type of chocolate? I'm sort of torn between Lindor Chocolate Truffles, and Chocolate Candy bars with Rasberry filling, or Godiva Chocolates, (my favorite being dark chocolate covered raspberries). So...chocolate lovers of this board...BE HEARD!!!!!!!

oh...for the commercial chocolate brands? I guess I'd say a Chunky bar...chocolate, peanuts, and raisins..YUM

Have you tried their icecream?!?!? The pecan truffle is devine! That is from a woman who doesn't like american chocolates too waxy. My Mother used to bring me back European chocolates when she went that's good chocolate!

Godiva Icecream? Where do they sell THAT? I live in podunk land. We have a small IGA, and a Cumberland Farms. Neither one sells Godiva Icecream. Now this..I've GOT to try. Usually..I go with Ben and Jerrys for Icecream. Ever have their Aloha Macadamian?????? OMGSSSSSSSSSSSS.

I voted GODIVA!!!!! I have a very good friend that works for Godiva's. One time, she brought me TWO big shopping bags of Godiva's chocolates. Apparently, they have ship their chocolates in refrigerated trucks. The temp in one truck varied just enough to ever so slightly melt the chocolates & left a gray film on them. They couldn't be sold so she brought some to ME!!!!:D I was in chocolate heaven!!

I recently found a local chocolate maker here to rival Godiva's (seriously!). I think it's called Bowen Island chocolates (or something like that) & they make hand made organic chocolates with no dairy. REALLY GOOD! :D I love dark chocolates! hmmmmm!

(BTW, chocolate is an essential food group.)

Could only vote Nestle, cos it's the only one I know!

Some of my all-time favourite chocolates were some an ex-Uncle-in-law brought over from his own Company in Pennsylvania, called Philadelphia Candies (i think, been a long time)
He doesn't export them to here, so i've not had any for 25 years!!!!

hmm. . . my favourite chocolate is white chocolate, I love those toblerone candies, they're imported from switzerland. And what about Ghiradelli chocolates? (San Francisco area should know what I'm talking about! hehe) they're YUMMIE ^^; hehe

I chose Hershey. I love Hershey bars and Hershy Kisses. My son and I went to Hershey PA 2 years ago and had a blast! But, I have to admit, when I want to indulge, I go for the Hagen Daz chocolate ice cream. Or Ben & Jerry's New York Super Fudge or.....

I'm gonna stop now, i'm trying to lose weight and talking about chocolate is not helping!!!! :D

I modify Baker's German chocolate to make my own chocolates. Ghiradelli is also great I have a few of those from California but I still am not fond of American chocolates. I think Celtic_Angel and Tanna have had my chocolates before but I'm not sure they may not have survived for them to try.

I definitely voted for Godiva!

After my husband bought me some for the first time, I couldn't go back to Hershey's.

I can't rremember if its was V-day or my B-day or if it was after I had a surgery but he bought me the giant box of truffles! He owed me big time because he didn't buy me one after the baby was born. :D

I think I prefer the box of assorted chocolates better.

As loyal as I try to be, to Godiva....I also love the lindor chocolate truffles, as well. Get this guys...

My closest male friend in all the world..my kindred spirit so to speak..did the most WONDERFUL thing. If he had been my boyfriend at the time, i'd have considered it a romantic thing..but as he wasn't...I'll have to call it .."para-romantic"..lol

I had just broken up with a boyfriend of mine, and was feeling QUITE sorry for myself. I refused to see ANY visitors, or even to talk on the phone. I had this awful habit of leaving my door unlocked at night. So...one Saturday morning, at Seven A.M....I'm awoken by someone jumping on my bed. Open my eyes to see my friend, with a bouquet of roses and a bag of assorted Lindor Chocolate Truffles in his hands!!! He'd also brought the makings for breakfast. Egg and Cheese Omelets, sausage, and some fresh fruit. AWWWWWWWWWWW.....We spent the morning eating breakfast, cuddling on the couch, and watching Teletubbies...(don't laugh....)...and our afternoon eating the truffles. LOL. Sometimes, I could kick myself for not proposing to the guy! Just Kidding. I love my hubby...but..he NEVER buys me lindor truffles. ;)

I voted for Godiva, but.... My real favorite is the Cadbury Dairy Milk Bar... or anything Cote d'azure (I think I spelled that right...) It's a Belgian brand of chocolate, and it's awesome. I've never seen it stateside. My Mom's best friend lives in Brussels and sends it to me quite a bit.

I have a tendency to really dislike American chocolate... too much parafin, not enough "creamy!"

Yvonne Belisle

Well, Yvonne, my supply ran out about a week ago! Now you've got me searching the web to see if there's a chocolate specialties importer somewhere out there. If there isn't, WHY??! We need chocolate!

People wonder why I say I don't really like chocolate It's simple I have had the good stuff after that chocolate flavored wax lost it's appeal.:(

Niamh

I agree! But people don't believe me when I tell them the amount of parafin in American chocolate, especially Hershey...

ANyhow, I just found the most marvelous site! Don't know why I didn't do this sooner...

http://www.chocosphere.com

They have Cote d'Or (yes, I spelled it wrong!)! I am going to order some at the end of the week (waiting for payday, you know...) There are some other wonderful European chocolates as well.

Another chocoate fact.... in French chocolateries, chocolates are discarded at the end of the day. It is treated like you might treat a bakery or other fresh food item. You'll almost never buy day-old chocolates in France!

I haven't either. Most of the time its Hersheys for me. To be all that honest about I really don't stick to a certain brand. When I was in Germany though I ran across the best chocolate I've ever had and won't you know right now I can't think of the name.

(not my actual first date in my whole life) he remembered I loved Godiva chocolates and got me a huge box full of 'em. I shared the ones I didn't like but kept the ones I did.....
It sure would be nice to be spoiled like that again....oh well.

Godiva is next to divinity...

Our wedding favors were the gold foil box with two Godiva chocolates, white ribbon with our name and wedding date and a little silver charm.

I'm wearing the charm now, but am craving Godiva chocolates :awilly:

See's chocolates are the best IMO, after that Ghirardelli, especially the squares with caramel. Mmm! Nothing beats a Kinder Delice either. I voted for Hershey's because it's the one I like the most out of the options to choose from. Godiva, I felt, was over-rated, I was a little disappointed when I tasted them.

Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory comes in close as well!

I love their chocolate and black cherry ice cream! It's my favourite. Lindt Lindor is my absolute favourite chocolate, but for everyday it has to be Cadbury's. As far as I know, we don't get Hersheys or Godiva over here.

I've never tried Godiva's, even though I think they have a shop somewhere in town.

My favourite chocolates are Laura Secord (I love their mint chocolates), Lindor, and Cadbury. Cadbury for the "everyday chcolate", 'cause Lindor and LS is way more expensive than that stuff is. XD But their Dairy Milk bars are yummy, so I don't care. XDD

My favorites are Ghirardelli and the Frangos they sell at Macy's. I also love Russell Stover's truffles but I don't care too much for their other selections. I don't think I've ever had Godiva. Then again, I've never seen any shops of theirs in my area.

Dark chocolate always gets my vote. I don't like white chocolate at all since it has a funny taste to me.

I am a Godiva girl, in fact I have taught my children about it. I told my son that if he wanted to show a girl he liked her he would by her Godiva and had him try some. Then I turn to my daughter an told her that she should except nothing less and had her try some. I know it sounds snotty, but I figure I will know what kind of status my kids are in by the chocolate that they are giving and receiving.
