bake a bread that you use in your ritual...then crumble the bread for you feathered friends
Or
Use a birdseed bell in the ritual and then place it outside as the libation!
Anyone else?

Thanks Xois youve got me thinking now :)
Im going to give my plants a good weed (as crops) and will be celebrating alone with a small ritual involving Red Wine, corn, baked bread and seeds for birds :D

Members of my circle are coming up to my house and we're going down to the beach - we're bringing offerings from our gardens or kitchens and we might do a labyrinth in the sand or play some games after the ritual. Because we live on an island, we usually just use ocean water for purification, rather than mixing salt into water. Anyone have thoughts on this? I know it leaves out the dissolving of one element into the other, but it just feels right to us. If anyone knows any good chants for Lammas please post them!

I hardly think that not disolving the salt in the water makes a difference ... after all the ocean is the embodiment of divinity too! So why not!!!

...this is the celebration of Fairfaxi, Frey's (or Ing, or Fro-Ing) horse. At our house, we bake the bread into a horse shape (we usually use the 'canned' bread dough found in the dairy case of our local grocery store). Unfortunately, there's usually not much left to share with the birds... mmmmmmmmmmm, bread horse...
We would only sacrifice a llamma in an emergency (like if the grocery store was out of canned dough...)

Hey Rick - then you could have a bread llama for lammas instead of the bread horse. Would it still taste as good??? Would it spit at you like a real llama?

Speaking of chicken, my friend Bek brought a chicken of the wood mushroom to our Lammas gathering. After the ritual she sauteed it with veggies from our gardens and it really did taste like chicken!!! I saved a small piece and put it into our offering basket. We brought the offerings to the ocean and threw them in. I think the mushroom was to represent the transformation of death into life, like weeds into compost, or decaying forest floor muck into rich humus. Then we saw a fairy (see my post in Just Talk, if you're interested)
