Hey all!
thought i would post this for anyone within driving distance to Burlington VT and who want to come to an public event this weekend!!!!
it's kid friendly but if you are under 18 we need for you to be with a parent, sorry!
heres the scoop....
Beltaine In Burlington
Sunday, May 2 at Red Rocks Park in South Burlington
Traditional Maypole Dance: 2 PM in the Grove. Wear your finest (grass-friendly) Spring duds, and put on your dancing shoes!!! We’ll provide the ribbons for decorating the Maypole, but the more drummers and dancers the merrier! This tradition goes back to Medieval Europe, and we can’t think of a better way to welcome in the season!
Family Picnic: after the Maypole and before the ritual. Get to know each other and maybe share some munchies, but park regulations prohibit alcohol, so please leave it at home. Also, we follow a “pack-in, pack-out ethic,” so plan on taking any trash you create home with you.
Beltaine Ritual: 4 PM at the Grandfather Tree (aka the Wolf Tree). We’ll be celebrating this amazing tree as a living Maypole, and honoring the fertility associated with this Sabbat in a family friendly way. Expect poetry, meditation, a blessing, and prayers for healing and growth. We encourage active participation in our rituals, and will have roles to be filled on the day for those who would like to take them on, but folks new to Pagan practice, and the merely curious, are welcome as well. We expect to be done at about 5 PM.
DIRECTIONS:
From RT 89 – take exit 13. This will bring you to RT 7. Take a Right, as if you were going into downtown Burlington. Take your first Left after Price Chopper, onto Home Avenue. Then take your first Left again, onto Pine Street. Follow Pine Street until it ends, and take a right on Queen City Parkway. You will pass over a one-lane bridge, and then take your first left. Parking is just on the right, and the gate to the park (which will be closed) is about 200 yards down on the right.
I will be attending, as i am part of the coordination :)
