Never heard of it... who is it by?

It's by a guy named Konstantinos. He looks pretty kewl Goth, and the interviews I've read of him show him to be pretty down to Earth.

But I've heard mixed things about his books...so, I guess try someone who's actually read it, though it is on my list of witchy books to get! :)

Hi there,
I attempted to read the book you're referring to...theres another thread on this topic buried in the dungeon that you may want to check out. Heres the link...

http://www.mysticwicks.com/showthread.php?t=34554&page=1&pp=10

I know that there is at least one scientific inaccuracy in the book...being the ridiculously analytical Virgo that I am I promptly put the book down and lent it to a friend *lol* In any case I didnt get all the way through it but thought I'de post the link anyway...Now, the remainder of the book may be very good, so maybe someone who's actually completed it will give you more information on that topic.

Hope you find what you're looking for on it!
Til next time,

The one scientific innaccuracy that was mentioned would be the sadly widespread idea of seeing the Dark Moon. It just isn't possible -- the Dark Moon rises at sunrise and sets at sunset -- it isn't there to be seen (at night)!

Yet, aside from that blemish, the book is very good if you fall into the range of people it is targeted for.

Yeh I have it (well have borrowed it from bf atm and havent quite given it back yet) but yeh it's really good. Very interesting if you want to read about another side to paganism and aren't into so much of the "everything is light and perfect with the world" lol.
Blessings

It seems pretty good, from what I can tell by flipping through it. I actually have Gothic Grimoire, which is the "sequel," and I have enjoyed it.

Cool....I'm going to try to get my hands on both of those..after reading a little about them on Amazon.com, they have me interested.

I'm not sure I understand.

The moon in its other phases can be seen both in the daytime and at night. It all depends when it rises and sets where you are.

Perhaps I'm just confused about this. Can someone suggest a website that explains the moon phases clearly and explains how the dark moon is impossible to see (and bonus points if it explains that the dark moon is only in the sky for us during the daytime.)

I have the book and I agee with Raven Heart. I get the feeling that the book was created to make money, embellished and edited to look "cool", it seems forced and fake to me.

Let me try to put it a better way. What I should have said was, "It is impossible to see the New/Dark Moon at night, because it is sitting between the earth and the sun, hence in the day half of the sky." Of course, in the twilight hours at dawn and dusk, it could be possible to sight it, I wouldn't know for having not tried.

But even then, consider the following quote, from an old article about the Jewish lunar calendar:
It is noteworthy that on all days of the month at least part of the moon can bee seen. The exception to this is the last six hours of the last cycle and the first six hours of the new cycle. During these twelve hours it is impossible to see the moon due to its position relative to the earth and sun. And for a nice graphical description of it, try this link:

The book, I'm afraid, is unimpressive and leaves much to be diseried. I believe it was simply targeted at the goths within the pagan movement. Just my opinion.

I feel the same way about it. Iwas really expecting something else from it and very disappointed; but I am from another generation.

Thanks for the explanation and the link to the diagram. It makes more sense now.
