Believing in green magik doesn't mean that you are a "Kitchen Witch" necessarily. I belive in green magik and I practice a cross of Celtic Druidism and some Paganism with a touch of Wicca. I have found it useful to void out any "prejudice" between the different sects and religions. I'm indifferent to the myriad of religions and beliefs...I think it's better to have an open mind about everything than to shut out the differences. I accept all people and their ideas and then use them to my benefits.

Hi Arcane!
I've got a question for you. As you know I am a Druid and while I know a great deal about Druidry My brother has thrown me for a loop by following the Green man. Any relation to what you follow?
Thanks!

Not really...I practice what most nowadays consider to be a "Kitchen Witch". I'm in touch with the earthen qualities from the Druid and Wiccan perspective and then with the other worldly qualities through traditional Paganism and Druidry and Wicca. I took the parts of each that I liked and combined them to fit my needs and wants...I still don't spend the time I'd like to on my religion, but I'm working on it. Did that help you any? If not I can try to explain it more in depth for you.

dave,

where did he follow him to?
i am sure Jack is a great fellow. his likeness adorns the wall space over top my Couch of Omnipotence.
following Jack could be like following a wood nymph.....really, REALLY, difficult.
but a better guide through the forest may lie with the fae. it is more passive, anyway.
kudos to your brother. the world needs more conservationists, especially ones who are willing to take a stand in defence of the forest....oh, nothing rash, but to kindly remind those who choose to abuse the trees that it is wrong....anyway....conservationists are great.
just don't get lost.

Hi tree_guy!

I feel the need to clarify a couple of things.
First you have it spot on, he is a tree conservationist of the first order. But to ask what he believes is to open a vague and misleading can of worms.
And a derisiveness of the Druid path. To wit; "the Druids I know don't really know what they believe."(his words):goodgrief I have been a Druid for ten years now and have a firm grasp of what I consider to be the cannon of Druid practice and many of it's practices.
That said I was looking to see if I could get a clearer understanding of what "following the Green Man" meant.

greetings,

and on the topic of vagueness, so is to follow the Green Man. similarily, following the Green Man is to adhere to the rules of the forest....to conserve, (to the best of my knowledge anyway.)
at the same time, directly attempting to follow him is like tracking a fart in a windstorm. so i says that perhaps increased study into the fae, the elements, the seasons, the animals, and how they interact with the forest would be a good first step, then make a move to the next rung on the ladder.
the bottomline is conservation, and the rest of the details are as vague as your brother says druidry is.
however, the ultimate evolution of the path he is on probably will be druidry.......following Jack is like grades 1 through 12, and druidry is like university.....as you well know, you never lose the title of 'student' because you never stop learning, which makes for a great 'teacher'.

i started off trying to follow Jack...some 14 years ago...and it is a lot like trying to mentally move the rock.

pleasant travels.
slainte!

I don't consider Druidry vague. To be a Druid is to be knowledgeable of a great many fields, one of the other threads has a mildly exhaustive list of what it is to be a Druid :uhhuhuh:

On holidays at the very least, I wished him Litha blessings and he had no idea what holiday it was, let alone that it was a holiday. Druid, Aspect-Calendrics
