Great job on the runes. They're gorgeous! I plan on making some from willow since I've always felt an affinity for the tree and I have a couple here that regularily self-prune.
I use the Mythic Tarot as well. I relate to it as it is based on Greek mythology. The Sacred Circle deck is one that I don't have but I like the artwork. I'd never seen The Secret before. I have to ask...what's the lady in the green dress and on the stairs showing her knickers for:D ?

lol! ~ The Lovers indicates an emotional choice so if you put it into the picture - it figures in a cheeky way!
Glad you like my Runes and use the Mythic too.

Good luck with your runes!! Willow is a great choice for them! are you going to make them circular or rectangular?

LOL- "Cheeky" I get it now...

Did you paint those? I've been thinking about making my own but haven't decided what to use.
I have a store bought set made out of rough clay and sometimes they feel uncomfortable in my hands. Like all scratchy and it sometimes feels like running my finger nails down a chalk board.

ICK!

I have the Faerie Oracle, Tarot of a Moon Garden, and Unicorn tarot decks, as well as a set of simple ceramic runes and a small (60mm) crystal ball in a cat stand - http://www.themagicalblend.com/cgi-bin/magic.cgi/CRYSTALCAT?gMXYoKsF;;34. Oh, I had a pendulum too but it got misplaced.

Willow ~ I love your Cat Stand! Thats so cute! Ive just got a plain one which came with my Saturn Spa Ball.. Maybe I will invest in a more elaborate one, one day...

Loki ~ Yes I did paint them with enamel paint then coated them with clear nail polish over the top of the enamel! Its really simple and effective. I got the stones for a really good price (£4) and can deffinately say its so great making your own set.

Those are beauties!
My hubby's crystal ball is gorgeous, but the stand is ugly and cheap looking. We are so broke, but I've been trying to find the perfect piece of driftwoood for it, since driftwood is free around here. I think if it was shaped and curved just right it would work. I'd polish it up and seal it well. Would make a nice gift for him.
For a pendulum I just use a ring that I've had since I was a baby, and for other people I usually ask them for a piece of their jewellry. I like the crystal!

Thanks darl! Im really :) you like them.
Your idea about making a stand sounds really cool and creative! My one looks really nice but is just a plastic one and was very cheap in the shop where I got the ball..so maybe look out for one if you change your mind about the wood. It would be nice to make a wood one though ~ so Id say go for it!!
Thats really neat how you use a ring and others special jewlery ~ ive heard that doen before but have never tried it myself... I just may do now :) Thanks for the inspiration!

Here is a picture of my runes. They aren't lined up perfectly, but getting them just right in the scanner was hard enough as it was, and editing the graphics for them afterwords made them fuzzy. So I had to live with them as-is.

They're totally hand-made. I found a branch on a walk one day and felt it was right to use it for making them. I'm not even sure what wood they are. Heh heh. Elm I think. But the stick was broken off from a tree by nature, and it wanted to be used. So I cleansed and healed it and then made my runes from it. :)

Using my portable-athame (my swiss army knife that has seen more rituals and spells than any of my other ceremonial tools combined) I stripped the bark. I then used the saw blade on it to cut the branch into disks. Then I sanded the disks down by hand. I then used the knife blade to carve the rune symbols onto the disks, naming them individually as I did so. And then, just for kicks, I properly reddened them. Then I 'birthed' them in a ritual and have been using them since with great success. (No small wonder there with all the personal energy that went into them.)

All that I can say is that making your tools yourself aligns them to you much better than buying pre-made tools. Not that this is always an option or that pre-made tools are bad though. Just if you have the opportunity, making things yourself is probably better. :)

The pattern on the rune clothe comes from the divination section in the book Rune Power by Kenneth Meadows...btw, for those interested in the tree relationships to runes as posted in another thread, can find a very extensive section about that in this book, also...I will provide that info if WildChild needs any more help in that regard. Each tile is about 1" square roughly and if yer interested, Silver, I will explain in detail what each section on the clothe represents and means. My daughter made the bag for me and placed 3 peices of turquoise on the center...my birthstones (Taurus). Thanks for the kind words, Silver...Goddess Bless!

Merry Merry,
Actually there is another divination tool
I use, called Goddess Guide Me that was made by Amy Zerner and Monte Farber. I found this lovely tool in a book warehouse some years ago ( or IT FOUND ME LOL), and I have had the pleasure of using it since. It is extremely well done, the art work is breathtaking and the ideas are based on 12 different Goddesses and the 12 signs of the Zodiac , which is perfect for me.
They are as follows:
Aries...... Romi Kumi Brazilian shaman Goddess of creation
Taurus .....Aphrodite ...risen from the Sea foam
Gemini ....Brigit.....culture skills and diversity
Cancer ..Diviana ....Divine Being Great Mother Goddess, and of course the moon
Leo..... Freyja .....whose will when thwarted turned her tears to gold drops
Virgo .....Artemis....whom the use the aspect of the Goddess of discernment
Libra.....T'ai Yuan......Goddess of Duality or "the Great Original Goddess"
Scorpio....Hekat......Goddess of Mysteries
Sagittarius ....Lakshimi.....Hindu Goddess of Abundance and Sovereignty
Capricorn.....Passowee....Kiowa Buffalo Woman
who brought Buffalo Medicine to her people
Aquarius ....Atlantia....conception of what attributes would have been ascribed to the Goddess by the women and men of the lost continent of Atlantis.....
Pisces ......Eurzulie....Haitian Goddess of dreams and desires, the weeper.
There are three aspects of each Goddess described with their Divinity in mind....
My Head.....the mental qualities and thoughts on the matter. My Heart.....the emotional qualities and feelings My Home........a much larger section....which focuses on the action of each Goddess, and they use the TERM HOME as a metaphor for the Temple of Body where the Head and Heart Dwell.
The casting is done with three color-coded 12 sided dice.....
so you could have as a reading the Head of Lakshimi....The Heart of Diviana, and the Home of Aphrodite..which is what I got for this offering of readings. Because ... you know........ I could even SCAN IN readings results because they are on a page .........
Just an idea ..... and the HOME of Aphrodite reads.... take conscious control of your ability to create your own reality , which for me means to remember not to offer more than you can fulfill, because I would like to be able to DO everything but may not have the time, so perhaps I could do a reading from time to time .

OK, finally got around to doing this. :) I've been finding that my oracles tend to come into my life when I'm going through phases, they are all wonderful, but I've found the scarabs by far are the best I have! Followed by the Australian Animal Wisdom Cards.

Scarabs:
http://www.johndoe.org/undercurrents/graphics2/scarabs.jpg

Wisdom of the Australian Animals (just a few of the cards)
http://www.johndoe.org/undercurrents/graphics2/aaw.jpg

Celtic Tarot
http://www.johndoe.org/undercurrents/graphics2/celticcards.jpg

Egyptian Cartouche
http://www.johndoe.org/undercurrents/graphics2/cartouche.jpg

Native American Medicine Cards
http://www.johndoe.org/undercurrents/graphics2/medcards.jpg

I tried scanning in a pic of my angel cards too, but the scanner decided it didn't like me at that point, so I'll have to put them up some other time.

I'll also have to get some better photos of my runes and put them up some other time, they don't scan too well.

I just love the Sacred Scarabs! Do you know where I could get a set? How much do they run? Are they easy to read from?

:D

Lilu

Dagda,

I've found them very easy to read from. The book is written beautifully, and makes interpretation very easy, they have been spot on for me so far!

I found mine in Barnes&Noble and they cost me around $35.
I know Amazon.com has them too. They are put out by deTraci Regula, and the artwork is by Kerigwen.

They came in a set with scarabs and book. The book says "Sacred Scarabs" which is what I call them, but I have seen them called on Amazon.com "Egyptian Scarab Oracle" so they could be under either title.

deTraci Regula also has them on her website here:

Bright Blessings,

Mythril,

Here is the answer for you, bro!

If you look at the picture of the cloth as it is shown...the letters all being upright, and knowing they are in runic script, the meaning is as follows, as well as the transalations:

The inner circle: Ring of Potential-Past...this indicates the core of the problem and its underlying nature. Or it may show what potential is being activated or coming into ultimate expression. As with any other shamanic work, the understanding comes intuitively, but in order to obtain that understanding the Runes must be 'read' in relation to the question and intention; otherwise the Ego-self will move in and simply interpret a set of symbols in isolation.

The middle circle: Ring of Causation-Present...this shows what thoughts and attitudes are coloring and conditioning the situation now and also what is taking place just beneath the surface of 'appearances'.

The outer circle: Ring of Manifestation-Future...indicates what is coming into view now and in the near future unless changers are made now. It is showing the way energies are flowing from the unseen to the seen.

The three circles can thus help you to realize how a situation has arisen, how it is affecting the present, and what is likely to arise from it.

The diagonal lines from the four corners to the middle circle provide directional influences that indicate how the appearance of the problem or your current life-situation is to be perceived shamanically in order to extract from it that which can work to your ultimate good.

Top or North segment-Place of Receiving...emphasizes receiving, indicates what should be accepted from the current situation and what is to be learned from it.

Bottom or South segment-Place of Giving...the one nearest to you, is linked to the quality of Giving and indicates what should be given up or given out.

Left or West segment-Place of Holding...what is to be held onto or retained.

Right or East segment-Place of Decisions...concerns determining and brings to the surface any issues on which a decision needs to be made immediately.

This is a general overview...and now on how to use the cloth...

You must place all your Runes in the palms of both hands and hold them about 6 to 12 inches above the cloth...formulate your question or issue and then drop them onto the cloth as straight down as possible...remove any runes that are upside down as they will not relate to this particular reading...read all inverted Runes as such...then begin your interpretation based on the formula and in the order stated above. Each rune must be read in the segment in which it appears and relates to the question or issue.

I hope this has helped you and remembrer this reading method is mainly for very major issues and concerns for yourself and others. I generally do a 3 Rune spread for daily readings and general questions or for basic readings for others.

Any questions? Please forward and I will respond...

Love and Light and Blessed be!

Lilu ~ I love your scarbs too ~ They look very mystical and I just love scarbs and the whole history behind them anyway! :) Id love to get some when Ive got some more money ~ maybe put them on my Christmas list..hmmm.. Thanks for sharing all your other cards too ~ I really like the aussi ones too :D :)

Ele your rune cloth looks and sounds wonderfull!! So if I just get a cloth and paint three rings on it like youve described and like your picture I too can make a casting cloth? :) I cant wait to give it a go and see if it andds alot to my readings!
Thanks so much for all the info and description too ~ Its interesting how you drop them straight down onto the cloth I would throw them but I suppose dropping them is much more accurate!

Sure.... :)

There is my Dragon Tarot (http://aeclectic.net/tarot/dragon/index.html)

And my Spiral Tarot (http://aeclectic.net/tarot/spiral/index.html)

And finally, good ol' Rider-Waite Tarot (http://aeclectic.net/tarot/riderwaite/index.html)

I'll have to take a picture of my runes sometime, though they kinda look like these (http://www.auctionwitch.com/cgi-bin/auction2/auction/item.pl?item=3181) except they're yellow stones with teal painted symbols.

And finally... :) I just bought this pendulum ~ hoping it will work better than my key on a beaded chain. ;)
