View Full Version : Cleansing an old battle field

I own a 150 acre horse farm that is part of an approximately 800 acre valley. The valley will be celebrating its 100th year of “modern” settlement in 2007. It was a location of a winter Indian lodge before that.
Actually, I don’t think the valley has much to celebrate about most of the last 100 years, but amazing things are happening there now, including about one million dollars worth of environmental grants to fix the problems with that were created with 100 years of intense farming.
The valley has seen a catholic convent, a “mad” or “wise” monk (depending upon who is telling the story), brothels, lumber mills, an mean and evil woman who used to curse others and played with bones in a circle on the property, a bloody battle between the Calvary and the Indians, dairy farms run by the worst kind of farmers and now two large horse farms and a good dairy farm.
All the people in the valley are environmentalist now and the valley is home to abundant wildlife and is beautiful and pastoral.
But, there are pockets of lingering energy that need attention. There is a 60 foot circle on my neighbor’s land that the horses refuse to graze in. And sometimes there is just a bad feeling that horses and sensitive people pick up upon.
800 acres is a bit large of an area to smudge. Any ideas for a ceremony or rituals that will cleanse the whole valley?
Thanks in advance!

This is fascinating... I do not know, perhaps ask a tribal elder....Which tribe? Sukwamish? Hmm, not sure... Too far South for Tulalup...

This is all I know:
STAHPTS or skay-WABST. Snoqualmie. On the E bank of the Snoqualmie River at the mouth of Cherry Creek. One large winter longhouse. This village was occupied by the Snoqualmie who called themselves sdho-KWAHL-byook'w, or "people of sdho-KWAHL", said to refer to Moon the Transformer who made this world habitable.

Ahhh, the Snoqualmie.... yes, can you find an elder?

Good Idea.
I'm working on it, although I don't know enough about the battle to know if it was the Snoqualmie tribe. Hopefully they will know or I can find out through other sources. It's been amazing how hard it is to find out the history on the property. I just heard about a 100 year old lady that grew up near the valley and is still alive. I'm hoping I can go and talk to her.
Thanks and please keep ideas and suggestions coming!

You could smudge the little pockets as you come across them?

Well thanks.. I mean, you could do a ..I think they call it a blocking.. it is a Druid tool, I can find out. You make a square, and all inside is protected... but, there could even be a burial ground there, and one would never know.

surely to block is simply to supress though, which could lead to other problems?

This is so true.. I still like the idea of getting a tribal elder to bless it

You could try summoning a spirit council. Shield yourself from any entities with harmful intent. Then enter a meditative or trance state (whichever works best for you) and then ask any entities connected to the valley to gather before you. Once you sense they are present, explain to them your desire to return life and peace and growth to the valley, and ask that they might help this to happen. Let them know that if they wish to communicate a need or request help in moving on you are willing to listen and help them in anyway that you can.
Quite often lingering spirits just want some basic courtesy and acknowledgement.
Best of luck to you.

There is one spirit that let about 4 sensitive people know about her within the last 3 weeks. Although we can't find any mundane records, people sense that she was killed there and her body was dumped in the creek and washed out to the ocean a very long time ago.
The thing that corresponds so well with what you posted is that after being acknowledged, she now seems happy. I talk to her when I cross the bridge and ask her to help keep the horses calm. Although we never really had a large problem with horses crossing the bridge, a few were always nervous. Now they all drop their heads (a sign of relaxation) and just plod across.
Doing that on a larger scale makes sense. Over the last few months, four or five sensitives have been called to the valley. I wonder if the reason is because the spirits are ready to move on and just need a little help.

Contacting, either in Spirit or IRL, the peoples that lived there sounds good.
From a quasi-Druidic point of view, I would suggest 'grounding' rather than 'blocking'. You could find a geographic or Energy central location and build a stone structure there. From that you could set off (like ripples in a pool) an out-ward directed intention of peaceful disbursement. You could ritually suppport it (meditation, offerings, song 'n dance) for a season or year or longer, allowing the quieting Energies to set up their own reverberation.
Sounds like a beautiful place, skilly-nilly

Glad I could be of help. You're probably right. Also perhaps they felt a certain connection with the valley and didn't want to leave until they knew it would be treated respectfully.
