Jap strat or American?

Jap '52 reissue telecaster, and I recently bought a Squier strat. The strat is a weird one. They only made them for a couple years. It's got an ash body, Fender alnico pickups and all Fender hardware. The story I keep hearing is that Fender decided it was not going to be sold anymore because people were buying it instead of American strats. I don't know if that's true or not, but I can believe it from the sound. It's got a killer sound and was really cheap.

The '52 tele is number one. It's got a blistering tone with the volume up and a really sweet almost acoustic sound with the volume down. What I really like about it is the neck, it's got a big fat 50s neck and it fits me really well. I bought it new from a guy on eBay that imports them from Japan. It's like the American '52 reissue except for the pickups (Texas Specials) and the finish. It's Mary Kay blonde instead of the butterscotch like you get over here:

Now all I need to do is practice for a few more years! It's a lot of fun, though.
