My BIL is getting married this coming weekend.. It's to be a traditional church type wedding.. I won't be attending, but my DH will as best man... As my gift to them, I plan to give them a photo album I am making myself.. In the front of the album, I'd like to include a "Blessing" for their nuptials, but I don't know of anything profound or moving to use. Do any of you know of any wedding blessings (a handfast blessing would do as long as it is neutral, as they are of the christian persuasion).. a big thanks to anyone who can help!

Well, it's not a blessing as such, but it's one of my favorite quotes regarding marriage.
I had it printed on our wedding programs.
"Companionship, partnership,
mutual reasurrance,
someone to laugh with
and grieve with,
loyalty that accepts foibles,
someone to touch,
someone to hold your hand--
these things are marriage."

Thanks MzNeko! That is nice!! I think I will put that in the front cover...
I still need a blessing, though, for the first page... anyone else want to throw in an idea or two? Pweez?? :::giving sad puppy face::::

Well, poo. I have a Handfastings book but we're in the middle of a move, and it's packed away in a box. If nobody comes forward with it by tomorrow morning, I can dig it out. Copyright issues won't let me post directly out of the book (will it?). But I can pass on the suggestions it gives.
Off the top of my head, anything blessing Hera would be nice. Maybe a simple inclusion of a peacock eye feather scrapbook style with a generalized blessing. It honors Hera, but without being obvious.
I'm thinking as I babble so pardon if something sounds really stupid but maybe...
By each seed of the pomegranate
and by each feather of the peacock
By each lunar gaze you shall share
By each season passing,
With spirit binding these four things
Thrice times thrice comes to be
Nine times all these things
Nine times again twice more
The amount of love each holds for thee.
Ok, that's off the top of my head at midnight while waiting for sleep to come.

Gracecat!! Thank you so much! I LIKE IT! If you do dig out the book, could you shoot me a PM? I'm finishing the album up tonight... thanks again!! (((((HUGGGGGGGS))))))

Not sure if you already decided, but I've always loved these two pieces. One is a blessing, the other a poem:
Apache Wedding Blessing
Now you will feel no rain,
For each of you will be shelter to the other.
Now you will feel no cold,
For each of you will be warmth to the other.
Now there is no more loneliness,
For each of you will be companion to the other.
Now you are two bodies,
But there is only one life before you.
Go now to your dwelling place
To enter into the days of your togetherness
And may your days be good and long upon the earth.
The Confirmation - Edwin Muir
Yes, yours, my love, is the right human face.
I in my mind had waited for this long,
Seeing the false and searching for the true,
Then found you as a traveller finds a place
Of welcome suddenly amid the wrong
Valleys and rocks and twisting roads. But you,
What shall I call you? A fountain in a waste,
A well of water in a country dry,
Or anything that's honest and good, an eye
That makes the whole world seem bright. Your open heart,
Simple with giving, gives the primal deed,
The first good world, the blossom, the blowing seed,
The hearth, the steadfast land, the wandering sea.
Not beautiful or rare in every part.
But like yourself, as they were meant to be.
(These are both public domain pieces.)

I LOVE the Apache Wedding Blessing. It's on the front page of my husband and my wedding album. We considered having it on the invitation (they actually have it as an available style from a couple of mainstream invitation printers.)

How lovely!!! I like it too! I'll dig out the book just to get information for others next time it's needed. I think it's a relatively new release because I hadn't seen it until last month and now I've seen it in a couple different bookstores.
Life has been hectic, so I didn't get a chance to go through the boxes today.

Ooooh. I like that one. I'm already married, but I might be able to whip that one out for a special anniversary. :)
