I've been lurking here in the tarot room for a while now. :) You guys have convinced me to try it. I bought the Wheel of Change Tarot today. It came with a humungously big book. I'm not even going to look through the book yet. Just spent a hour looking over my new cards. They are really beautiful! The artist spent 10 years designing them. So...I'm sure I'll be back with lots of questions. :)

I'm really happy with them! Ok, here's my first question. Should I clean them or anything before using?

That deck is absolutely beautiful!

With a new deck, I would definately "clear/cleanse" them! Just think how many people have handled the cards in the making, transporting and selling of them??? We have discussed many ways of doing this in other threads. My suggestion would be to take them out of that little box they came in, and set them on a window sill where they won't be disturbed for a day or two! ;) ...just make sure you rotate the top card, you don't want it sun-faded! :D or, if the moon is out tonight, you could set them out to absorb the moons energy as well....and you don't have to worry about fading!

lol! I love the Fool, Magician and Ace of Cups Wildchild they seem very special and great to read from :D I can totally understand why you love them so much!

Its a really good idea to leave the cards out to soak up energy in the day or by the moon light ~ more powerfull for me personally by moonlight :)
I cleanse mine by annointing & lighting a candle (purple to symbolise physic energy) thinking about the cards and grounding myself.. lighting an incense stick infront of me.. then I take each card ~ look into it, say out loud the what the card is saying to me (Just a few words..whatever I feel at the time) then I pass it throught the incense and kiss it!(only started doing this with ym last pack!) Then put it down and carry on with the next until the whole deck is cleansed.

That's exactly what I did last night! I pass each card through incense smoke & ask them to be cleansed of negative energies. Then I put them on the windowsill to be charged by moonlight. I'm going to put them out tonight & tomorrow night as well...for the full moon energies. I'm really excited & can't wait to try them out. It is such a neat feeling. I have another tarot set that I bought eons ago. It never felt right, the cards were too big for my hands. As beautiful as they were, the cards never spoke to me like this set. We clicked immediately! :)

I wish I could leave mine in the windowsill for sun or moonlight - unfortunately I have cats who think otherwise and will just throw them onto the floor :D
