Info on Isis

I have created an illustrated novel about the journeys of Isis and I would
like her journey's to be true to form- I know that there is alot out there
but I can't filter it all out- I think she may have a different name too
but I am not sure. Any help would be appreiciated.

Now that's interesting, and sounds like a lot of fun, too. A very dear
friend of mine is Isian and has Isis figures painted all over her walls.
It's a real hoot ~ she even has a giant Nut in her bedroom. :biggrin:

She was first known as Au Set. - which I think means either "sister of Set" or "of Set."

Actually "Auset/Aset" means "(the) Throne" and applies that She is the seat of authority. It is on her lap that the King Heru rests and is nourished.


The throne headdress of the Egyptian goddess Isis. Isis is the Greek derivative of the Egyptian name Aset, (or Auset), meaning throne or seat of authority. Isis was the embodiment of authority, and divine right to rule was by her authority. Osiris reborn is often depicted as an infant on the lap of Isis, where she is the literal personification of a throne.

Sister in Kemetic was Senet (brother was Sen) (it also meant companion/friend and equal...oh and husbands called their wives and beloveds "sister" but there was no incest...it was like Sweetheart)
THe "set" part of Her name has no relation to the God Set from all I've read.
