As some may know my family and I are hoping to move to Oregon. I am looking for any info on relocation programmes that offers financial assistence for people to move to a better location and better jobs. My son may be able to transfer from his job here to the facility that his company has in Portland. Also I need web sites for anything to do with, medicaide and job assistence, schools and the Portland and surrounding areas. It would be much appreciated. We really need to get out of Utah it is poison for us here.

Thanks so very much.

Well I don't know about programs but there are some things you can do. Contact the visitors center they will send you a lot of information. The chamber of commerce in the area you want to move into may have relocation information as well. Some states have relocation programs that will help with the cost of moving to a better job site as well. I would definitly look into that both there in utah and in oregon. Also see what the tourism board can send you. There are often coupons for dining out and attractions plus some shops and hotels. You never know what may come in handy for you when you get there. Even if you don't use them you will still know what the main entertainments are for when you are out there and on your feet.

I never heard of help with moving to another state unless, your lucky enough to work for a company that will pay (which seems to be rare from what I can tell).

Yea! Someone wants to move here for a change! I am in Portland. I don't personally know of any programs, but I will try to help in any way I can. You should try contacting the Portland Chamber of Commerce. They might have more info for you. :)

Okay here's what I've been able to come up with thus far:

http://www.oregon.gov/DHS/index.shtml

This is the website for the State of Oregon human resources department. If they can't help you I don't know who will.

http://www.vancouverusa.com/

This is the website for the Vancouver Chamber of Commerse in WA. Perhaps you could check out your options there as well. Vancouver is just across the river after all. I will keep digging and see what else I can come up with......

I don't know of any relocation assistance programs. Human solutions is probably the best bet for info though... they don't have a web site that I could find, but this has contact info: http://www.irccv.org/i&r/iris/u20rcclc.HTM

As far as schools... there are tons... depends on what level of school you're looking for and what area you end up in.

OHP is the medical assistance. They're running out of money, but it shouldn't be too hard to get on with children. http://www.dhs.state.or.us/healthplan/

Love to have more of us out here!!! :D

it's for one of the high schools here... but if you scroll down, there's a bunch of links that will probably be useful!! :)
