So I've had a few tarot decks floating around for awhile and now that I feel comfortable living with my partner and some roomies to look through them without worrying about getting stares and the like, I'm going to start actually learning this cards. I've wanted too for so long and I figure since I'm out of college for the summer I might as well add some extra studyng on.

Anyway, I've decided to start doing a daily draw but I've a few questions about it. When do you all do your draw? Does it matter?

And...do you think it's a good way to learn the cards? Do you come up with a question to ask or just chose a card?

And...how exactly do you do a daily draw anyway?

Okay, now that I'm offically feeling like a newbie I'll toss a poll on this post (always fun) and slink away waiting for answers.

I try to do it early in the morning, while I'm drinking my tea. If I don't do it then, I tend to forget. I'm also very centered in the mornings, and intuitive arts are easier then for me. If I remember later in the day, though, I may do it then. I don't think it really matters, as long as you hold your intent that the reading pertain to THIS day. :)

As far as the other questions... darn, I need to go grab a quote to keep myself organized, or I'll ramble.

And...do you think it's a good way to learn the cards?
It didn't really help me. Sorry. *laughs* The only way I could really focus was to sit down and do a full-on reading. But, I believe that is the opposite of how most people feel, so take it for what it's worth.

Do you come up with a question to ask or just chose a card?
Something like "what do I need to learn today?" or "what will today bring", "give me guidance for today". Something of that sort.

And...how exactly do you do a daily draw anyway?
My dad is a single card draw kind of guy: he shuffles and then draws his card off of the top. Then he goes to learntarot.com, prints off the sheet for that card, and leaves both propped up on his computer desk where he can contemplate them. Seems like a good way to do it. I usually choose either a three card spread, again, I change the meanings of these occasionally based on my whims (body/mind/spirit, minor lesson or event/major lesson/minor lesson...), or I do a Five card spread I snagged from somewhere. I'll post two for you out of my "box-o-spreads." No, really, I do have a box-o-spreads!

Sometimes early in the morning, sometimes before I go to bed at night...depends on the day. I usually do a 5 card draw--the first card is what is going on "immediately", the second and third cards are influences on the situation, and the fourth and fifth cards are the most likely outcome. I find this is a good indication of what to expect over the next 2 or 3 days. Usually no specific question, just a request for insight into what I might expect.

Well, I don't really do daily drawings anymore, but they can be very helpful. What I did to learn my cards was to do a ton of readings for myself. It helped me to see how my cards worked together and what the energy of each card was. You can do a daily drawing by just shuffling the cards and picking one from the deck. You can as a question such as " what's going on today..." or just pick a card. Then you can meditate on it right away and try to let the meaning of the card come to you, or look at it again that night or even the next day. You can also try drawing three cards a day for a week and look for patterns and cards that seem to work together. Just a few suggestions. Anytime you can get some undisturbed peace and quiet should be fine :ballonsmi

LunaRose,
May I ask, for I am a curious bee, why you don't do daily drawings anymore?

I try to do mine at night before I go to bed, but sometimes I forget, or I'm too exhausted, so I do it the next morning.

I do mine in the morning to help me get a focus on what needs my attention for the day. I try to use that card as a guide.

I need to do more full scale readings, even a three card one, becuase I do have a harder time connecting the cards in relation to each other.

Well, I don't do daily drawings anymore because I have a daily question now. ( Or almost daily. It was daily untill I started working) It sums up my day for me and I use three cards for it. That I guess serves as my daily drawing. ( Plus I learned a little bit about combinations using three cards )

I do a daily draw in the morning but leave it face down. At night before I go to bed a write a journal and look at the card I picked for the day and see if it related to anything from the day. If it didn;t I keep it in mind as it may be a message for the future.

Now that sounds like something I should try out! Maybe alternating my daily question with a daily mystery card! I like that idea very much. Oh, Rhiona, I love your unicorn too. Very pretty :bigredgri

Thanks LunaRose :)
The unicorn is from a film based on a book called The Last Unicorn which I recommend to anyone who loves unicorns.

I do it when I wake up, and then I return to it before i go to bed, to see how it applied to my day.

I tend to forget about it. *IF* I remember it's in the evening. I'd like to do it everymorning.
