I am a senior in college and it's taking me a long time to get through school because of health problems. We are supposed to submit our portfolio to get into our major at the end of our sophomore year, but I declared my Fine Arts major late, and I can only take the minimum amnt of credits because of my health. Also, my dad had to recently move to alaska to take care of his parents who are in the 80's. He can't have a job while he's up there and my mother just got laid off and we are struggling to pay for my school. Basically I have put all my time and energy into getting into the photog program and I don't want to have to start all over again with a new major because I can't get in. Also, we just can't afford to keep me in school for years and years. Please pray for my family because its awful having so many miles between us, and please pray for me to get into photography so I can graduate and start working to pay off these loans! Thanks so much for reading all this!

Thanks you sooo much Dragonsinger and luana_geneveve!! I was working on my artist statement to put in my porfolio last night around the time you posted, luana when the phone rang. It was a woman doing a radio station survey who was really sweet and I chatted with her. She found out I am in college and she told me before we hung up that I need to stay in school and that it makes her really happy when she hears about kids furthering their education to help themselves in life. Its really awesome how luana sent me energy and that phone rang at about the same time!!!!
I submitted my porfolio about 20 minutes ago, so we'll see what happens. They post the names on Monday. :)

Thanks again to everyone who sent me energy and read my post!

I want to thank all of you that prayed for me. We weren't supposed to know whether we got in or not until tomorrow, but I got my porfolio back today. I opened it and looked at the application and it said I had been denied, and had all this writing, but it was crossed out. They said-oops we made a mistake....we reconsidered you and you are in!!! When I read that, I cried. They had tough competition this year....only took about 10 out of 24 or so. This tells me that they had decided not to take me, but something either in one of my images, or in my artist statement stayed in their head, until they realized they had made a mistake. I asked an angel that stands for creativity to stay with my porfolio. Boyyyy do I have some offerings and some thank you's to do. THANKS SO MUCH ALL!!!!! *huggs* :D

ahhh.....even though I'm approaching crone age..LOL...I DO remember being in college so long ago and incurring all those student loans.
It's scary I know...and I'm sorry you're having to go through all this...

but as someone who is now able after ALL these years to finally make a living DOING the artwork I love...stick to it! Don't give up on your dream!

I spent many many years at other jobs until our life allowed me to pursue my artwork as a career. Sometimes the road IS very hard...but the reward is then sweeter.
Maybe not really what you wanted to hear right now....but stick to it! Don't let go. Take all the hours you can and keep up the good work.

Remember that sometimes we're given adversity to see our resolve. I truly believe this.
When you love art....and I think you do....you won't be able to ever let it go. Work through this tough time and being seperated from your family as best you can. YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!

Sending you love and strength and the respect of another artist who for one wants to see nothing but your ultimate success!!! Twill be alright.....you'll see. *wink*

hugs and thoughts....my heart is with you.

Your ink witch friend.....Sabrina

Sabrina~Thank you so much for your post, it was truly inspiring. I was really excited to see your artwork as well....I adore Pagan artwork!!! You and I have much in common!! I know you are right, that it will be a bumpy road, but everything will work out if I stay with it. My mother has an elderly woman on her mail route who is a retired english professor and she told my mother, that if a person has a lot of passion for their artform, (even though it's a competitive field) that others will take notice. I'd love to be a college prof for photography...teach a beginners course or something one day while I do my artwork. I just have to take it one step at a time, and I'm off to a wonderful start!

Blessings!
