You might have seen my thread about how I can't cook for myself and wanted to eat fried okra. Last night's craving was sweet potatoes, so apparently, with no Southern affliations, I am working my way through southern cuisine. I have strong food cravings and end up driving all over town for these things. Last night was no exception.

I first drove to the health food store because they sometimes have cooked sweet potato at their deli. They didn't have it that night. There's a hotel whose restaurant has naturally purple mashed sweet potatoes with obscene amounts of butter, but I didn't need the acne from that. Besides, purple? I drove around looking at restaurants and nothing looked promising. Finally I came upon an expensive French restaurant with black cloth napkins. Well, it was worth a try. When I went in and sat down in my casual clothes and asked the waitress if they had sweet potatoes, she thought I was crazy. Besides, they serve prix fix menus that start at thirty dollars.

Did I mention that I have a lot of nerve sometimes?

Anyway, I don't remember what I ended up eating, but this evening I went to a take out place where they have boiled, sliced purple sweet potatoes and wouldn't you know it, they had one package left. Which a staff member had opened and was proceeding to eat as a snack. There it was lying on the back counter. The last helping of sweet potatoes in the greater metropolitan area, being slowly nibbled by a cashier in between customers. I did get a healthy meal there.

Earlier in the day I swimming in the sun and I worked up an appetite, got a craving for peppermint ice cream. There's a Baskin Robbins five minutes from my house. Although they didn't have peppermint at this time of year, they did have mint choclate chip which I ate. That craving, got satisfied.

Did I mention that I actually tried to run for governor of my state under the green party and although I was sincere, there was the motivation of the Governor having his or her own fulltime chef. I could have went for that.

The problem is physical limitations. I actually know how to cook.
