Our own DebLipp has posted a wonderful thread on her own forum in the Author's Circle regarding Topics of Study for Wiccans. This sort of organized syllabus is absolutely invaluable for anyone wishing to follow the Wiccan path. I highly encourage you to read this and print it out.

Anyone who wants to celebrate the holidays should celebrate them! Books like WICCA: A GUIDE FOR THE SOLITARY PRACTITIONER have lots of ideas for solitary celebration.

You might get input from other solitaries in the New Pagans or Ritual forum.

Blessed be!

You don't have to do anything to be a Wiccan. If you choose to be a Wiccan you can decide for yourself what you "have" to do. But celebrating the holidays is certainly nice.

If you're keeping it very private, you can always do it all in your mind. It isn't as much fun, but it's an option.

There's lots of good stuff here on Mystic Wicks already. Lots of young solitaries here, too, who can relate their personal experience to you. I have plenty to teach, but I don't have experience being a teen solitary, so that is something you can get from others here. There is an online Book of Shadows and rituals and so on archived.

i like to think lighting a candle on one of the holidays and tahnking the pagan gods is a good way to "celebrate it" i made a promise and a commitment to harm none harm no natue, no rock, no truee, no animal thusly living a good life i cant go back on my commitment now and i do not have any intentions to either

I think you should stick with that for now. Until you are able to learn more and do more. You are doing just fine. You recognize that you are just learning. My advice is to take it slowly.

yes i guess but we all are learning and we will keep learning as long as we are wiccan i realize many pagan gods are ressurected ancient gods deriving from greek and roman, egyptian it will take some time but i am not gona say grase to them all maybe my favorates such as artemis, apollo, thorr, the green man why, the green man is the corner stone of my altar
his picture is taped on the wall above the altar kinda

Unfortunately a lot of non-Wiccans are probably going to miss that wonderful thread because they don't think it's for them. There's *so* much of value in that list, whether you're Wiccan or not. I'm not, and that list is one of the most valuable things I've found.

So whens the "old man" going to do that sort of thing for druids??? Oh Yeah, he already has I guess. Its called the ADF!

Well thank you. I don't address it to other Pagans for a couple of reasons; first because I'm Wiccan and I don't wish to claim expertise in areas where I am definitely NOT an expert. Second, because the Pagan movement is so wide and diverse that unless you narrow your conversation to one area, you can't truthfully make ANY statement. Any sentence beginning "Pagans are..." is likely to be wrong in at least some cases. So "Wiccans are..." or "Druids are..." or something like that is far more meaningful.

It doesn't mean you're not welcome to the material.

The book I am writing now, tentatvely titled "The Study of Witchcraft," is based on this list/post. So if you're interested, please don't let the title turn you off!

This website is awesome for Wiccans! I'm not one, but I did study the religion for years and no one has really been as informative or as helpful as the one listed above. :)

Happy Hunting!

Thanks, that list was really helpful! Even though I've been studing for a few years its great to have a list to work of off. Looking at it, I see I need to round myself out in a few areas.

Thanks Ben and Deb!

The Study of Witchcraft has been picked up by Llewellyn and will probably be published in 2007. You can all take a bow as it is based on the list I posted here and your questions about it.

You're welcome! I'm sorry that I didn't see this post until today.

I'm very pleased to report that it seems the book based on this list will be published next year. I have a verbal promise that a contract is on the way. I don't want to reveal more until the contract is signed.
