View Full Version : I think anyone who would like a reading...

Should really make a point of pulling a card for someone else as well. It seems Dagda and Silver and Semele are left to do so many readings along with RnR and I think everyone should participate. Don't worry if you don't think you're very good - the only way you'll get better is to practice!! If you need some help learning to read, ask for help, we're all here willing to help you learn!

So if you'd like someone to do a reading for you I suggest you do a reading for someone else at the same time or shortly after or something - even if it is just to pull one card for someone in the victim list. You can read the meaning out of a book or just tell what's on the card and what it makes you think of, and once you've gotten some practice with your cards it will be easier for you to read them - you'll be more confident and less stressed and the meanings will come easier! Don't worry, we're all friends here and no one's going to think your reading is stupid at all.

Of course this is JUST my opinion :)

(Not that you are calling me a an offender or anything LOL). I thought this myself when I asked for a reading the other day. I haven't done any readings here because I am so new at this and I admit it, I am scared too! LOL! All of you here are awesome readers and I am a bit intimitdated. 8O

Tell you what, I am going on vacation for a few days and am bringing my cards. I'll get some practice in and when I get back, I promise to pull some cards for some people on the Victim's List.

And now that I worote this, I have no choice and can't back out!
:D :D :D

Sounds like a good idea to me. However if I do a reading for someone and they wish to return the favor they should pick another name from the list. That way more people are getting readings, not just a back and forth kind of thing. Of course anyone is always welcome to read for me anytime they want.

Silver Venus
August 3rd, 2001, 09:27 AM
Yeah thats a really good idea :D We should keep it so they can choose (as long as they have cards..) and also suggest others who havent had a reading in ages :)

Semele Ill read for ya next week ~ any topic in mind? :D

That may apply to those on the Victim List but, there are a few strays that venture in. I wouldn't expect them to do a reading because they ask one from us. I am happy to do it.

Ok how about as thanks anyone with a deck should think about giving a reading for someone else (from the victim list, or someone who's asked).

I'm not suggesting this should be an absolute rule or anything, it's just a suggestion for those who are a li'l shy about doing a reading - we don't bite!

Okay, I'm in. It's been ages since I've done a reading though. I'll have to bust out my books and do a little brushing up. Give me a day or two and I'll come back to do some readings.

Can anyone recommend a good book or two? maybe something with a lot of different spreads?

Thanks.

One things always worried me about trying it - what if i get it totally wrong, but the other person has faith in what i tell them?

I know people who have had bad readings (not here) and it has worried them sick. I'd hate to be responsible for something like that.

I always worried about getting readings wrong myself. But if you think about it, the reading is sort of a snapshot of what is going on in a persons life at that moment, and EVERY decision they make after that affects the outcome. Just one decision could/will affect the outcome of the reading!

When I first started reading cards here, I told everyone I read for that if the reading seemed wrong, or not to fit what was going on in their life to let me know! ...I would then attempt another reading. Sometimes our own energies and attitudes at the time of the reading can lead it astray. The only way to learn and grow is through the mistakes we make! Even people how have read for dozens of years, can come up with a reading that's way off. Sometimes it's the reader, sometimes it's the querant!

In any event, no one will say anything about getting a reading that is off, we'll just let you know. I think it was Loopy that had done a couple readings....and most of them seemed off....and it does shake one's confidence; but Loopy has recently done another set of readings AFTER THROWING AWAY THE BOOK, using only insight and came up with very accurate readings!! (Way to go Loopy!!~I'm SO proud!)

-----------------------------------------

I agree with Willow! I think there should be more reader's stepping forward! <I'm about worn to a frazzle!> ....if not just to give our regular reader's a break! ;) Don't worry if you are right or wrong, just let the reading speak to you! (and throw away those books! ....IMHO the only good thing they are good for is letting you know why some of the symbolizm was placed in the cards! The meanings are just suggestions from other reader's as to what the cards mean TO THEM!) Using your insight is the best! I thought, when I first started, that I had no insight! It was just pretty pictures on a card. But then I would determine what the reading was about, and the position that the card occupied....and then combine those aspects in with the picture of the card....and the story would unfold!

Good luck to new readers! We are here to support you on the beginning of your Tarot Journey!

You know guys, this suggestion was made because there are only a couple people doing dozens of readings and I really think more people who have cards should give this a whirl.

There are tons of books out there available. The book I used to learn with is called "Tarot for Beginners" by P. Scott Hollander. I have also learned alot from the site: www.learntarot.com the site is also in book form "Learn the Tarot" by Joan Bunning. Another good book is "Easy Tarot Guide" by Marcia Masino.

As far as spreads go, try this link:

Good luck!

I like doing readings, and if someone wants to read for me that's cool too :) but truth is I don't always have a question or anything to ask about.

Anywho, if anyone wants a reading by me, ask. If you need someone to do a reading on, I can volunteer too :)

I totally agree!

Even if you just got your very first deck of tarot cards and haven't even done more than look at the pictures, the only way to learn to read.....is just jump in and get your feet wet! We don't bite! Inexperience is the excuse you should use TO DO READINGS!! :D

I do want to thank those who have jumped in and done readings! Willow, Rant, Silver, Emy, Danustouch, Puma Hime, Semele.....(these are the one's I can think of off the top of my head) :sunny:

I would love to flex my tarot muscles again and give someone a reading! But, sadly, my cards did not make the move with me :(
But if you give me some study time, I may (that's a big MAY) be able to do a tea leaf reading. (though I have found those work best in person, but it's worth a shot, ne?) Either that, or I can owe someone a reading once I get my cards back.

As far as readings...I can give it a whirl...I don't know how good I am, but I can always give it a shot.

If you could tell me how to get on the list I would be glad to help out. I've done readings for a long while and consider myself quite competent. The only thing is, I use the Thoth.

Merry Meet Lost Soul! Youve found your way ;)

Great about reading too! There's a Victim List stuck at the top of the Tarot Room menu so if you click on that you'll see a list (a long one too) of all the people here who would like a reading. Then you can pull one card, choose a spread, or do what ever you like :D

Hope to see you around here loads more.

Gak! Last night I think I was very off on all the readings I did.. (Sorry ahead of time if I got 'em..not quite so on the mark) 8O

Dagda- 5 of Cups: You're feeling solitary or alone and are focusing on what braught you to where you are now, and not what you can do to move on.

Silver Venus- 6 of Cups: You've been showing your good will and helping out others a lot, but (I think) you like to do it.. :) ('tis the season though.. ^^)

Thanks Flaire, Im trying my hardest to be nice to people ;) .. No really, this card probally relates to all those christmas presents Ive been buying ~ I love shopping and giving people presents!

Ive just drawn you a card that is very simialr to the one you drew me! Maybe some connection here ? :)

6 of Pentacles ~ Giving and Receiving! Maybe this relates to this reading we have exchanged and your presents too! Also all that goes under this umbrella ~ looking after someone, being looked after, teaching, learning, giving advice, taking advice, leading a way for someone and following someone!
I think this is going to go on this week and most proablly throughout the whole of December up till the New Year!
Your feeling allot more positive and this is due to all the factors in this card, theres allot going on and this is great for you! Keep busy!

Actually, you were quite on the mark! I've been in this really funky mood the last 3 days. I am hoping that it will pass soon, it's driving me and my boyfriend crazy! ;)

Thank you for the reading!

:D I pulled this one for myself, actually.. But, yeah.. I've been doing my X-mas shopping & cleaning out my closet (to give old stuff to the Salvation Army).. I can't really think of much when I was teaching someone something, although I have been getting taught how to sew better.. :) Tee hee....

And 's no problem for the readings... (I think I'm getting better at doing readings for other people...) :D

I am new to all of this and to MW, but I just want you all to know that I am so relieved and so grateful for this site and for the time you all take to help people like me who have heaps and heaps to learn!
I'm not yet confident enough to pull any cards for anyone in here, but I would love it if one of you did me a reading.....I think I may also learn from that too! I hope you don't mind me asking!

I would also like to know about romance........am I going to meet a prince? ( Coz I'm fed up with kissing bloody toads! )
Basically just tell me everything and anything you can!

Myst you couldnt of said it better ;)

Can everyone pay it forward please and read for each other, I know lots of you have cards out there.. just give it a try! :)

Theres two people requesting reading right now and I feel guilty not having the time for doing them, but why should I?
Can someone who I read for last week kindly read for one of these querrants please? Juniper or/and Laiste

Thanks :sunny:

I'm glad this thread got bumped today since it's my first day as a registered member. I've been wanting to get in some practice on the cards and I haven't been needing a reading myself. Whenever I'm available I'll post a quick note and the number of readings I can do at that time and we'll see how that goes. I'll probably trade my readings for them to do a reading on each other or someone else as I rarely like to be read by any one other than me. Personal preference.

I'm getting better with mine, and will do a three-card quickie for people...Not looking for a reading, just someone to practice on other than myself. ^_^
