View Full Version : Lesson 2

Why should I have a guardian dragon?
Before you start contacting dragons, you should understand why you'd want to. In my opinion, you can't do very well if you don't know why you're doing it. :) Dragons, as most of us now know, are wise and helpful creatures. In the movie Dragonheart, Draco says, "We swore to help and watch over mankind." (paraphrasing) However, as times went by, people began to resent dragons (Lesson 1 explains as to why) and some stopped believing in them all together. Most dragons eventually moved off to the astral plane for their own safety. Since then, due to their lack of physical appearance, they have become nothing but a myth to the general public. However, dragons still help mankind when given the chance...it's just a tad more difficult.
Dragons, when reached to a certain relationship, can protect you, your home, and your loved ones. They can aid you in meditation, spells, scrying, tarot card/rune readings, healing, and just about anything else mind-related. They can give you helpful advice towards life's hassles (especially those money-related) and find the best routes for you to follow.
Note: Gaining a dragon friend does NOT mean you are completely unsusceptible to life's problems. If they find it is something you should be exposed to (death in the family, robbery, bad hair day, etc.), they will let you be exposed. Sometimes they'll warn you when it's coming, sometimes they won't. Remember, they're just helpful friends, not omnipotent gods.
Guardian dragons are the children dragons. Their size usually ranges from faery-ish to medium dog. (Faery-ish sizes aren't too common, since they are usually too young to work with humans yet.) They are usually fun-loving, amusing, funny, and great with kids and pets. (A guardian dragon is a great way to get a young child acquainted with dragonkind.) Like all dragons, their sex is hard to know unless they flat-out tell you. Since they are the younger dragons, they are kind of in training with working with humans. If you meet a guardian dragon, it is not uncommon to see his "teacher" about at times, checking how he/she handles situations with humans. This older dragon may also just be looking out for the younger one, since the younger doesn't have much experience and humankind still is against dragons. The older dragon may just be making sure the younger isn't hurt or taken advantage of.
Guardians may be very skiddish around humans if it's one of their first times. I mean, switch the roles around. How would you feel if you were a young child in the presence of an animal that had a history of killing/hating your kind? You'd be a tad cautious, wouldn't you?
Guardian dragons, as a whole, love dancing, music, singing, laughter, stories where dragons are depicted as wise or the heroes, and spicy incenses. They are a bunch of fun once you gain one as a friend. However, since they are young and inexperienced, they are not very astrally beneficial. (My next lesson talks about the older dragons. However, most of my class is centered around the guardians. I think they're the best to start out on. :) )
I think this is enough to read through right now. If everybody feels ready, I will most likely post ways to contact a guardian dragon within the weekend, either edited in this thread or made as a new one. :) Again, PM me if you have any problems. There are no assignments for this lesson as of now. Just make sure you tried the other two in the first lesson.

:clapping: I'm ready I'm ready :boing:
Why do I want one. Because, somewhere in my head, I've always thought of them as wise and kind and very regal for some reason. I never thought I would have the opportunity to actually get to know one, so I'm incredibly excited. And of course, after your wrote:

That just made it 10x's more interesting. I never knew they could interact with me that closely. It's very exciting :hehehehe:

:bumpsmili Me too!!!
The thought of actually meeting and having a friendship with a dragon is very exciting! For me, having a Dragon friend that will help me (when possible) and interact with me on a personal level, is very comforting and desireable. I have always loved the idea of a sort of spirit guide, someone not of this realm who will help you when you need it and be there, (even though I haven't had the priviledge of having such a relationship yet ) and I wouldn't choose any other creature to have this with! Dragons are (like Faeawyn said) very regal and amazing creatures, and it appears that they are just as complicated as humans! I can't wait until I can meet my guardian! :)

Well yes, I do have Welsh ancestry, but that's not the main reason, I wish to work with dragons. I would really just like to have more of an understanding of what they are. They facinate me, the same way Faeries do, and I'd just love to have a working relationship with one

if a dragon chooses to work with me i will welcome it into my life and family
but the main reason i am taking this class is to learn more about them as i have a deep seated facination with dragons and a sense of their majesty and knowledge

Dragons have always amazed me, ever since I can remember, I always wanted a dragon for a friend; also, every time I do an Oracle reading, my 'power animal' for that reading is almost always a dragon, and this has piqued my interest greatly. And btw, I'm ready too :D

Dragons have always fascinated me. I'm so excited to be taking this class, and can't wait to start interacting with them. I've always wanted a spirit guide to help me with things, and answer questions and generally help/protect me. This is a great class.^_^

well, i'm ready :3 hate to be repetitive, but it's true.
very insightful few paragraphs, klucky. since i've seen various dragons in my meditations, i'd like to contact one of them. though one of the dragons, a red one, was far larger than you described; perhaps an older dragon?
this is going to be a very interesting learning experience :3 yay

Bring it on baby.
I have waited to meet a dragon since i was 5 and was the only kid in class that thought Dragons really existed (I was very mature for my age and kinda grew up before everyone else) so actually meeting one i can finally say (to the reaminder of the class left in my head) I told ya so. plus they are so intersting, beautiful, and kickass. I just gotta meet one.

I have always loved mythological creature. My top 3, in no particular order would be: Unicorns/pegasi, Dragons and fairies.
I would love to meet one, for various reasons. One being: So that I take them off my Top 3 list of just being a myth, and add it to my favorite "real" critter's list :)
Also, it would be just AWESOME to converse with one.

I can't say for sure I'm ready but post away. Still working on meditations and still working on getting dragonheart. I am not necessarily actively pursuing a dragon guardian but I am attracted to pictures/stories/statues of them and I figure there must be a reason why. Plus I'm not totally sure I understand dragons (well, I'm sure no one fully understands them) and was hoping to gain some info.

A gaurdian dragon would kind of be like a teddy bear.. someone to talk to , play with, dream with. I think it would be nice to have a forewarning sometimes... I would find it fascinating to share with it.

I would like to have a dragon friend because they have always fascinated me. I think I'm ready to try and talk to one. (I wish such a place as Pern was real, so that we could have physical dragon beings who bond to us for life and share our thoughts and minds.) Sometimes I feel lonely, and I wonder if dragons are lonely for us, too. For the way it might have been long ago.

I would like to meet a dragon mainly because they are separate, but not so different mentally than human kind. They honor loyalty, are very protective of their chosen companions, I am sure, and communication seems like it would be much more clear (therefore more powerful) than that of, say, a cat or dog. I consider them, on the astral plane, close to immortal, and am sad to say that I would like a companion for my lifetime, to be yet another life pass him/her by. Somebody that I wouldn't ever have to describe what happened to me, for they would always be there.
Well, my daughter is crying, best go see to her.
I would like to think I am ready to meet such an awesome creature.

I think I wanna befriend a dragon because I think that there's lots to be learned from them. I love to learn, and being able to do so from such a majestic and beautiful creature, who is much more knowledgable about magical matters than I, would be perfect. I also hope I can serve to be a kind of diplomat to the dragons in a way, to show that some humans are trying to mend the bridge between our kinds.

Hmm.. that's a really good question. Hopefully, they can shed some light on why they left so that we can work to make this world more habitable for them if they'd like.. And maybe just more about their lives and culture. Yes, I'm a culture freak.. and especially with another species, I'm fascinated. :foh:

I have been trying to meditate some more and meet the Mama Dragon in my my last meditation. I did get to talk to her again, but then, the cat disturbed me and I couldn't get back there.
As I have mentioned before, both of my kids have guardian dragons and I have had a long time fascination with them. I would love to have a strong relationship with them. I think they have a lot to teach us. I think by learning from them, I will be a better person.

Now I don't feel quite as silly about pretending to have a dragon for a pet when I was little.
I am absolutely fascinated by them. If forewarning is a dragon talent it would be a huge help with my precognition and deja vu. I don't think I'm ready yet but I'd still like to learn all I can.

O.k I have a question. Are guardian dragons only the small young one's, or is it possible that you can have a larger adult dragon as a protector. Here's why I ask. A few months ago, I was having this really horrible dream, I was by the sea and I was being threatened by something (can't really remember what, may have been a man). Well I started speaking in what sounded like an ancient language, and this beautiful sea dragon came shooting out of the water to protect me. Perhaps I would have just thought of it as another dream only since then I've just felt as though he was my friend. Whenever I'm sad, or upset he's always there to comfort me. Even if I just think of him. He's not so much a protector or a guardian in my opinion as much as a best friend and a companion. So what I'm wondering is if guardians are generally small and young dragons then why is myn full grown???

Although rare, having an adult guardian is possible. The dragon may have started out as a guardian when it was young, and loved it so much they stuck with it. :)

I would just like a friend, or someone to confide in. I live in a household with 9 other people, and its frustrating at times. I think having a garudian dragon around would help me better control my anger (because with 9 people bugging you, you tend to get angry) and help in meditation like Klucky said. I'm really bad at meditaion.

Klucky, earlier you said dragons can help a person with divination. Can you expand on that, please? What would I need to do? During meditation, should I focus on contacting a specific type of dragon to help me with divination? Am I making any sense?

Well, if you're talking about a normal dragon, then you're getting ahead of me. You'll have to wait for the upcoming lessons, sorry. :p
But, if you're referring to a guardian helping you out, then I suggest checking out Lesson 2.2 and putting in a reading instead of dancing or whatnot. Maybe a guardian will come, maybe not. But yes, try and concentrate on asking one to come and aide you.
If you're asking if there are any certain types of dragons that specialize in divination, then I'm not sure. I don't know of any that focus completely on that. Most dragons are all over the place with a love for all kinds of Pagan-type activities. But I do suggest a guardian since they usually seem to be a little more interested in divination.

I never explored the world of the dragon. I hope to find it or them or one, I'm not picky! :) And all I want is to learn. Dragons are basically new to me, Not as in I dont know about them, I never had one involved directly with me so, new is a chance to learn and I love learning.

Read it. Considering I've already got a few dragon friends (I say that because in the past I've met dragons with other responsibilities, so I wouldn't call them my guardians)... well, the main reason I contact dragons is because it's one of the ways to reach out to the astral and rebuild friendships that have been lost to time.
