This is the top place we're considering right now (look familiar?): http://www.stanleyhotel.com/weddings.php
I've got to call them and make an appointment to go over there this weekend. :) Surprisingly, it doesn't cost any more than anywhere else we're considering. I just think it would be so cool! Though I laugh every time I look at it.

Just schedule it for a day when the aliens from Independence Day aren't attacking.

**laughs and shakes head** No.... that's just what it reminded me of. I have no idea what is supposed to be funny about it.

It's the hotel Stephen King was at that inspired him to write The Shining, and the hotel they used for both movies.

I was closest, because at least I guessed it was a movie.

*...laughs...* I figured you'd get a kick out of that. We have to look at some other places also, but this is my first choice. Aside from the movie link (it was also in Dumb and Dumber though they were supposed to be in Aspen  ) and the history of it, the place is gorgeous! It's also one of the only places that has enough guest rooms for everyone. There are already over 160 people on the initial draft guest list, and most of them are coming from out of state.
It's kind of creepy in a really funny way, though, because the inside of it looks exactly like it does in the movies! Doobie keeps saying that it would be hysterical to get married there on October 31st.

**snaps fingers and points at the Dumb & Dumber reference** Oh, yeahhhhhh. I remember that place now. Very cool. It looks beautiful, too. (Except for the name of the mountains..... who was the wizbang that came up with the idea of calling them the Lumpy Mountains?)

b/c it was used in Stephen King's "The Shining" movies, I believe.
I think it's beautiful, but I'd be too creeped out to get married there!
