FBI agents, Birmingham and Gardendale police have pulled over an 18-wheel truck and have closed I-65. When questioned by news agents, Secret Service says this incident has something to do with homeland security.
This must be fairly major for Birmingham, considering the last time I saw feebs here was after the clinic bombing.

They've shut down I-65 within the B'ham area and therefore have released this to the press.
I-65 is the major traffic feed here.

Truck stopped on I-65, traffic snarled
GARDENDALE, Ala. (AP) -- Authorities stopped a truck and temporarily closed Interstate 65 north of Birmingham on Tuesday, backing up traffic for miles in an investigation that included homeland security officials.
Tracey Ayres, a spokeswoman for the Alabama Department of Homeland Security, said the Secret Service, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and other agencies were involved.
"This is an ongoing investigation," she said.
Video from television news cameras showed a truck with its rears doors opened and law enforcement vehicles all around. Traffic crept by in a lane that wasn't blocked after the roadway was reopened.

Trucks are all over our roads. Anyone of them is a target for shady operations.

How much do you all wanna bet it was a truck full of Christmas lights that had been endangering Homeland Security earlier this year?
(That was me being flip. Sorry to anyone who gets offended by it. I really would prefer it was a Christmas light issue to an issue of biochemical weapons or explosives or something, believe me.)

*laughs* Vans have the biggest risk of getting pulled over, esp. ones with HAZMAT. *is so glad her guys don't have to worry* But traffic is going to really suck down that way for awhile I'm sure - I hate that, because ppl get so careless - means more wrecks are possible.
I wonder what's really going on that got the truck pulled over....

Argh, I never know how to feel about this stuff. Living on an Airforce base you get a lot of false alarms and I've become quite the sceptic. But better safe than sorry I guess!

DH is a hazmat driver. If I understand the new laws correctly, if you have a felony of any type, at any time for any reason (2 years or 20 years ago), upon the renewal of your CDL, you will no longer be Hazmat endorsed.
Just a bit of trivia there ;)
