Favorite Tarot Decks

Hi all!

I was wondering what everyones favorite decks are? Also, do you use special decks for certain kinds of readings?

Do you have all the students using the same deck?

As for me, I have about 10 decks. My favorite is the Sacred Circle Tarot. It took me a few months get used to the cards and stop getting such negative readings. Now I absolutely love them.

Tarot of a Moon Garden was favorite before I got the Sacred Circle. My only complaint about Moon Garden is that not everything in life is wonderful, and all my readings have a positive spin on them.

I also have the Celtic Dragon Tarot, but have yet to really connect to it. I never use my Rider Waite deck anymore. I much prefer a deck without so much ceremonialism, cabala ect in it. It just doesn't fit my path, but was a good learning deck.

Does anyone use the Lovers Tarot? I love it for relationship readings.

I have several decks myself. I find I am drawn most to the Robin Wood Tarot. I do have the Sacred Circle deck. I am slowly working with it and do love it!

I am also interested in the Celtic Dragon Tarot, but have yet to purchase it. ...maybe in a couple more months after I've worked for a bit with the Sacred Circle!

I do all my spell work with my Rider Waite deck. It was my first deck, and although alot of people don't relate very well to it, I could. I'm more satified with the Robin Wood but I just can't let go of my original deck. ;)

I have a few-- my Inner Child cards will be my fifth deck, I'm very excited. :D But of the ones I have right now, I only really connect with my Elemental Tarot. My others-- Witches Tarot, Tarot of the Witches, Sacred Path-- just don't really speak to me. Maybe I haven't them all a fair chance, though, since I love my Elemental deck so much. :D

I have the wonderland deck :D...I love the Alice Books and I feel more connected to that deck because of it....at least I think.

i used to have sacred circle tarot, but the cards were to big for my hands and reading were akward. I love my wonderland cards though

I use Tarot of the Old Path for my main readings and the Hanson-Roberts Tarot for past life readings. For clients I have all of my decks available for them to choose from (the Decameron and Manara are kept in a box for mature audiences only....). Clients tend to choose the one that gives them the best reading without them even realizing it.

I used to think I had a favourite deck...it seems to change depending on my mood. I do find myself going back to Wheel of Change a lot.

My fave deck is most deffinatly the cosmic deck. I knew as soon as i seen it that i had to have it... It's the only one i can understand. I get alot of information from the cards when doing a reading. but when i look at my robin wood deck nothing comes to mind,completly blank!

I have several decks, too, but mostly I use a computer program (that has a about 10 different decks to choose from) or the Herbal deck.
As you might have guessed, the Herbal deck has a different plant & some info about it on each card so I'm learning about herbs & not just the reading.

So you did get the Cosmic deck after all? I love it. I have the thoth deck too but it is too advanced for me yet. It doesn't want me to use it as a regular deck. It wants me to wait and learn to use it properly.

I also love my Froud Faerie deck and the Authurian deck.

I have the Sacred Circle deck, which I have an on-again, off-again relationship. I'm in love with my Froud Faerie Oracle, and I also have the Fairy Ring oracle, which I think will behave better now that the Froud Faeries are home.

But as far as tarot decks go, I'm lusting after the Gendron deck. I hope I'll get it for Yule or my birthday present. Or maybe someone else will catch my eye, right now I feel like a tarot slut b/c I'm usually looking for another one :lol:

I just bought the Pocket Goddess Tarot. I have the regular Goddess Tarot and when I saw this I was really excited...

I worked a double the other night so I deserve this...

HAHAHAHAHA...I was delighted to see the Pocket Goddess Tarot come into the store (and on payday no less)..I even made a "wee" bag for them so I can carry them with me. I love Kris Waldherr's artwork. Just a heads up, she's done a Sacred Animal calendar for 2004 that should be in the shops now or soon...it's beautiful..good Yule gift for someone :)
I have way too many tarot decks probably, and in all truth it really does depend on my mood which deck I use. I still fall back on the good old Aquarian Tarot, or Robin Wood when nothing else seems quite right.

It took me years to find a deck that I really felt comfy with which is the Fey tarot I love the artwork i was defently drown to it I cant discribe it I just know it fits. Befor I found the fey I owned the rider white deck and witches tarot and the cosmic tribe tarot (which I must say I wished I could of seen more of the cards befor I purchased its is very how do I say explicit). You can really feel that a lot of heart went into the fey tarot.

I have a friend that uses the celtic dragon she loves it has always had a good reading. One thing, I don't know if its her or the cards but, we were all at her house for a Christmas party it was about 7pm and a couple of are other employee's wanted a reading so she went to get here cards and book and could not find them anywhere we looked everywhere. She was getting upset thinking she lost them but when those particular coworkers left she found them sitting on there nightstand. I know they were not there before and she said its has happen one other time before. Weird!!

Right now all I have is my Rider Waite (pocket edition, perfect for my tiny hands! :lol: ) but I'm planning on buying the Robin Wood Tarot from the local metaphysical shop soon(either that, or get one from Robins site... I emailed her and she emailed back saying she could autograph a card for no charge! :)) And then I'd start using the Robin Wood for my own personal readings, and the Rider Waite for clients I read for online.
So, we'll see.

I love the Fey tarot too. :) It's my comfort deck-tends to be nice to me and I've meditated on some of the cards. (for some reason that cute little uni-puppy told me it's name was Rumplestiltskin and it makes people seek for truth *laugh*).
The Froud Faerie Oracle I like-I don't do spreads with it, I'll either draw a card or just meditate. Himself helped me find one of my spirit animal helpers.
Legend brings out my intuitive, water side (it is done with water colors, lol) which I like, and I find that the more I work with the deck the closer we become (unlike the instant-bonding that occured with the Fey).
And finally the Nigel Jackson tarot is my favorite for when I need the truth, without sugar. That is not a deck that flinches from anything-I've had readings that I honestly wanted to just shuffle the cards up and pretend I hadn't laid them out. But I value that. And the minors are awesome-they're pips with scenes. Amazing deck.

As y'all may have read in my other thread, I will soon the happy keeper of the Gendron deck, and I think that is destined to be my fave, along with my Faeries Oracle by Froud.

I did an online reading at tarot.com this morning using the Gendron deck and it was amazing! I can't wait to get it!

I would like to get Faery and Dragon Tarot as well... but haven't had much luck in finding ones that I like.

My future mother in law has a medicine deck also, which is pretty cool.

Hmmm... just found this thread and thought I'd post my two cents.

My two favorites are the Dragon tarot and the Arthurian tarot. I sometimes use the Celtic Dragon deck, too. Most of my other decks are simply owned for the sake of collecting.

i only have two decks -

the celtic dragon (recieved on my 10th birthday) and the dragon tarot. i find the celtic dragon deck an absolutely exquisite deck, it is my favourite, without a doubt. i find it so beautiful and i really connect with it. i'm big into dragons, so a lot of my stuff has got dragon imagery on it. :) for me i need to like the deck's artwork in order to purchase it and, oddly, feel any degree of connection with it.

The favorite that I own right now, would probably be the Gothic Tarot of Vampires. It's a very shocking deck as far as artwork goes, and as such I'm careful about who I give readings to with it. But for some reason its's the deck I've connected the most with, and feel the most comfortable reading with.

I have the Ancient Egyptian Tarot by Clive Barrett on order, though, which I looked into for almost 6 months before I was able to find some way to get it. I have a feeling it's going to end up being a favorite as well.

I like all the egyptian and gothic type decks....I love the vampire one, but dont own it. I want it really bad! I also have tarot of the cat people, which is pretty cool..its my dad's old deck.

My first deck was the Mythic Tarot, which i gave away and then ended up buying again years later. I also have the large Thoth deck which i havent gotten quite comfortable with yet. I have the Rider-Waite deck, rune Cards, and Tarot of the Witches Deck, which i purchased after watching Live and Let Die. It is the deck Jane Seymour uses, or more accurately it is the new version of the deck Jane Seymour used. The original deck, which has fully illustrated minor arcana is no longer in print. I like the major arcana of the Tarot of the Witches, but the minor arcana looks like it was designed in haste, cutting corners and simplifing it. I regularly use the Mythic tarot. I have a strong desire to get the Aquarian Tarot, and The Tarot of Durer.

i have four decks, the hanson-roberts deck (my first deck), the dragon tarot, the rider-waite, and the tarot of the animal lords. i love the dragon tarots artwork but i cant read the symbolism well on it. i read with hanson-roberts and animal lords but id have to say hanson roberts is my favorite...because its a colorful and happy deck, and probably the easiest for me to read.

My favorite deck is the Swiss Tarot IJJ. My first deck was this one, but it had been my mum's. They had a nice feel, but there were cards missing. That one had been in French. I recently bought another deck of the Swiss Tarot IJJ, but in English this time.
