Hey guys. I am trying to do some research on female deities that are associated with fire and others associated with wind. The internet hasn't proved to be a great help here and I have not had a chance to consult with books yet on the subject so can you all help me out? Your knowledge on such dieties would be great.

Hi Spiritcalf!
The Celtic Goddess Brigid/Brigit/Bride/Bridget is very much associated with fire - one of many possible interpretations for her name is "Fiery Arrow." There are tons of sites that go into this association. Let me know if you want links, though.
Don't know any wind deities off the top of my head, but I'm sure other MW-ers do.

would elemental air suffice, or would it have to be actual physical wind?

I think that the Hawaiian Pele and the Greek Hestia/Roman Vesta are associated with fire. Besides Brighid, the Celtic goddess Rosmerta is associated with fire. We've discussed Rosmerta briefly in this forum.
Oya is associated with the wind. Also, there's a Chinese goddess named Feng Po Po who is a wind goddess. Ninlil is a Sumerian goddess who is associated with the wind.
Hope that this helps some.

Rauni is the Finnish goddess of lightning and the winds, and Gabija is the Latvian/Lithuanian fire goddess who, like the Greek goddess Hestia, tends to the Sacred Hearth and is accompanied by handmaidens.

that would add in Nut, the egyptian/kemetic goddess of the sky. also Athena (greek) is frequently associated with air due to her love of learning.

Frigga is a goddess of the hearth fire.Much like Brigit and Hestia. She also has connections with air and water. She weaved the clouds and in some myths makes it snow.

yeah, that's why i named frigg at first, but i didn't see any direct association with wind, so i thought i was wrong. but if elemental air is okay, then frigg is a good representation. :) especially with her spinning the clouds.
though i do think the "hearth" aspect refers to the home and the household, not so much to fire as an element. just my opinion, though.
edited to add: on the other hand, the hearth fire is a representation of all that, so... :spaceman:

Oya
Goddess of The Winds of Change
Oya howls into your life riding The Winds Of Change. What is it that you know that is necessary to bring about a life that you will truly love, but are too fearful to enact change? What is it that you deny yourself from having? What success or failure do you fear? What have you been avoiding until a better time arises? Oya tells you that now is the time to embrace change. There is always a price that can be paid to be free, pay it now, as it is inevitable anyway. Clear out the old to make way for the new. Open your arms to dance with chaos and uncertainty. Let yourself be unsettled, prepare yourself for growth. The Goddess commands you to sow the seeds of love, joy and abundance to receive what you truly deserve in all areas of your life.
Suggested Ritual. This ritual can be conducted at home or the work place, and will enact letting go of the existing to make room for the fresh and the new. If practical play your favourite vibrant music and open all doors and windows to replenish stale air. Have paper and pen ready.
See yourself as a whirlwind. Move to each cupboard, wardrobe, drawer and storage place and throw out all items that you have not used for over a year. This includes cosmetics, furniture, bedding and clothing. As you discard each item, break your bond by briefly blessing it with thanks. Observe and accept any emotions, feelings and thoughts of resistance. Do not be swayed by any lack of willpower.
When all items have been cleared, clean out and tidy storage places to make ready for the new. Clean all windows, mirrors and floors.
At the end of this exercise take up the paper and pen and write down a list of at least twenty (20) new items that you wish to bring into your life. Rewrite this list each day for seven consecutive days.
Oya is the tall, stately Amazon warrior goddess who represents The Winds Of Change. Oya is depicted in both African and Brazilian mythology as the archetype of female leadership, persuasive charm, the huntress and transformation. Oya is said to signify sudden change or revolution and that lightening and rainbows signal her presence. As Yoruban goddess of the marketplace she was deemed to bring sudden change to fortunes. As the wind, Oya symbolizes the first breath and the last, and carries the spirits of the dead to the other side. Oya is power and action in the face of chaos.
