I was browsing the web and come across this little Wiccan/Pagan gem.

I thought I see what others thought about it. Any truth to these statements?

......can I add one of my own??

You aint a wiccan if you are pompous enough to go around telling everyone else how to be one...................

(sorry - couldnt resist that.......................)

Anyway as far as Im concerned the rede says it all.

Also the threefold law.

I can't help but feeling that the writer of all this is a little "Fluffy" ... but that's just me

Ummmm - fluffy isnt the way I'd put it - perhaps full of themselves would be......

My well-meaning partner once bought me a book on Witchcraft, very impressive cover lots of info but when I turned to the back page and read some of the "You can only be a witch if" stuff - I wrote a scalding email to the author via the publishers and took the book right back the next day. Some of the comments were so biased and biggoted they had no place in our religion.

Im not saying this person is either of those things - its just that if you are a wiccan you sort of know whats good and whats not -I believe you cant really go wrong if you stick to the rede.

I'd agree with you there. Although I can't say I follow the rede all the time. I do try, and that at least is a foot in the right direction.

Yeah, I read it and thought "fluffly". I also was turned off at all the rules, some of them are just human! So if I speed, I'm breaking the law and not Wiccan anymore? If someone has a drug problem, their not wiccan? Hummm.......Good thing I hadn't dedicated when some of those things happened to me! :hehehehe:

I totally agree.

People need to get off their high horses sometimes.

Okay, I decided to go through the list properly and so far this has stuck out.

drink or use blood in magick. Ok, this is just sick... I'm not going to go here

I always thought using blood in magick and or rituals made it more powerful ... or made the person more connected to what it is they were doing. I'm not saying it is for everybody ... but blood is very powerful in its own right ...

I like it :hehehe: but thats just because it kind of expresses my own personal beliefs. I agree that it's a little one sided.
And yes, I had also heard using your own blood could strengthen some types of magick. I just haven't been able to bring myself to do it yet

I agree with DragonFriend and RubyRose, you cannot go wrong if you follow the rede.

And I have to agree that the writer felt a little fluffy.
Blood does strengthen a spell... and I have heard that menstruation(sp?) blood would be even more powerful.
Although it's not commonly used, as far as I know, in Wiccanism.

It is suprizing that we all believe it is fluffy. I think it more of a deterent to do harm. All thoughs, that are just comming into wicca don't know the rules. Even if these are abit stiff it is a good place for newby's to start. she has a fair book list to start by. And once poeple(newby's) get there feet into it, like the rest of usthey will find out the RULES for them selves. Still she is fluffy

This is OT but the use of menstrual blood is a lot more common in the Dianic trad than in mainstream Wicca - reusable pads went through a bit of a vogue, partly for that reason :D

Some of it, yes, makes sense. But most of it has absolutely nothing to do with religion. You can be a pothead AND a good person. I don't agree with doing drugs but I at least don't judge everyone by the results of a urine test. Blood strengthens magic, it is a powerful part of who we are. Something about using menstrual blood just grosses me out though. Call me dumb, but I prefer my blood non-slimy. Plus, I think the momentary pain adds a little spice to whatever it is you're doing.

I must say the author sounds fluffy. On her/his homepage, there is a 'Burning Times' thing, I bet their name is Lady Skyhawk Moonflower Elfchild, etc.
