Runes

Okay I have another question! Okay,I am going to make some runes. I desided to use rocks because I've always had a connection w/rocks(for some reason). Now here's my question..............................should I carve or paint them or carve then paint them??? Thats all thanx and Blessed Be ya'll-

All I know is that just paint tends to wear off from the rock... I have a beautiful set of runes that I simply can't use cause they're wearing off just from touching them, pretty annoing...

Well i think that if u paint them then follow up with some varnish,
then just paint will be fine.

but carving is probably the original way that they were made.

I made mine of clay , then varnished each tablet and now i am bussy painting the runes on , then varnish over the paint.

If you can carve then paint it will be permanant and tradional!
If your like me and useless at engraving ~ I just painted the sigils on with enamal paint then coated them with clear nail polish over the top...Up to you!

Probably the most important question is... do you have tools with which to carve into rock? If so, go for it... if not, then go to the paint store... :D

Of useing a soft rock like soap rock or something.

My answer would be to do what YOU feel led to do. Do a little divination to see how you should design your tools for divination...oxymoronic? Naw...just how I would approach it.

Since we're talking making runes... I made my very first set of Runes today!! In fact, just finished them a few minutes ago-- they're drying. :D

It was kind of a spur-of-the-moment thing; I just found one of these tiny glasslike stones and remembered that my mom had a bunch more, decided it would be fun, and stole a few. 8O Also "borrowed" some glass paint. :)

Anyway, they're somewhere between the size of a nickel and a quarter, and I have NO IDEA what I'm doing-- never even read any of the meanings for them, but I don't know. *shrug* Seemed right at the time, and I like 'em! :D They're black with blue paint. :D:D:D

They sound really beautiful being black and blue.

Thanks Silver! :D Well, after I painted the original stuff I realized I needed to do 2 coats of glaze with an hour to dry for each, which I didn't get to start to til 8 o clock. And after I did the first coat, the box I had them in rattled and they fell on each other! :eek: So I had to redo it, and then I was so nervous they'd still be wet that I just left 'em overnight. So I haven't even seen the finished results yet-- I'm off to do that in a few, actually. :D:D:D

I'm looking forward to joining Rune class! :D

thats terrible! for you, the table and your little runes.. Hope it hasnt made too much of a mess... I get so angry at myself for making more mess and work for myself..
Start afresh and they will be perfect this time :D

Thanks. :) It was actually a little wooden box, so table's... well, dusty and crowded, but that's another thing.
