View Full Version : Who Else Wants To Live In Hogwarts?

Maybe it's because I just finished reading the 3rd book of Harry Potter, and I'll be (hopefully) seeing the movie tomorrow night, but, I've been thinking alot about how cool it would be to live in a place like hogwarts. Or how cool life would be if it was adventurous like hogwarts, to have friends like the ones in Hogwarts. I know I sound so stupid, but I really want that, it makes me feel good to think about it. How do you feel (HONESTLY?) about all of this? And what would you do to make your life seem more like this cool school and world?

Yeah, I know it's fake and fantasy, but I like to think and day dream that maybe somehow I can create such magick and adventure for my life. I just don't know where to start. I wish I had castle....lol. Now, that's crazy. So, what are your favorite parts? And what would you incorperate into your life/atmospher?

I would love to live in Hogwarts. Maybe I'm a little old to be a student there (I am 30) but I could always apply for the Dark Arts teaching vacancy. There seems to be a high turnover of staff there.

And can I just say, because I must, the guy that plays Harry in the movies is going to be one FIIIIIIIIIIINE man.

I'd like to say Gryffindor, but well, hey, it'd probably be Slytherin.

I was floored when I first read the Harry Potter books because it was like JK Rowling had gotten into my head and written books about the fantasy I used to have as a little girl of suddenly finding out I had these amazing magical powers. So yes, I would definitely love to be at Hogwarts.
And I've taken various quizzes and such and I get bounced back and forth between Ravenclaw and Gryffindor, but I think I'd probably belong more in Ravenclaw.

There's another board where I hang out, and one of the things I do there is to post as the characters from Harry Potter. I take the time to make each character do & say things that JK Rowling's characters would do or say. Thus, it is possible to sort of have a conversation going on with them...
So recently they had a thread in their main forum about who was going to see Prisoner of Azkaban. Draco Malfoy said that he already saw too much of Harry Potter as it is, & that he sure didn't want to see that vile hyppogriff ever again....
Hermione often shows up in threads about school, encouraging people to do their homework, whereas Ron just tends to goof off. I figured out what the background color for posts are at that board, so when Chamber of Secrets came out Tom Riddle began posting, but you would have to highlight his text to read it... and then it would magickly appear on your computer screen...
In their Fantasy & Science Fiction forum there was a thread about Gandalf vs Dumbledore. After a little discussion, I arranged for them to challenge each other in a Ping Pong match. Hagrid showed up to watch & he gave Gimli some of his wheat cakes. The dwarf liked them, although he did comment that they were kind of chewy...
BTW, if you don't know about this yet, I should tell you now. JK Rowling had her official site re-done, & it is amazing. They re-created her cluttered desk, and there are lots of things you can check out. She has a lovely sense of humor. Also, there are some Easter Eggs...

Live at Hogwarts? NO, but I'd love to go to school there! I've seen various websites proclaiming they will open up a school for magic and various paths, but alas, none as of yet. I also took two silly tests online to see what house I'd be in and came up with what I thought, Gryfinndor and Ravenclaw, I'm very much like Hermione, geek and all!

I know that if I spent any great deal of time there that the whomping willow would be my main problem. You can imagine every single day it would have a go at you. As soon as my application to Hogwarts is approved, I'm gonna get myself an enchanted chain saw from Diagon Alley!! :fpcsucks

Yep, I'd like to live at Hogwarts. (I'm even older than Jaroson...)
Not sure which house I'd fit best, I'll have to do one of those quizzes.
I wouldn't want to get involved in all the life-threatening stuff, though, cause I'm a coward! :lookaroun
(When I read the books, I feel like I am living there. If something interrupts me, its like Wham! back to reality)

Well, I've obviously been completely Potterized, but I'm 53, so I'd have to be a teacher. I'm qualified to teach Defence Against Dark Arts since I've been practicing White Magic since 1967, but I'm not sure I really want that job. I'd rather do something safe, like replacing Trelawney in Divination. You can find excellent material on my website about Tarot & I Ching.
BTW, I need an assistant. I'd like to hire a House Elf for a reasonable wage, but it must be one who isn't bonkers...

I think I would be in Hufflepuff..........
My Mom was in England and visited the castle that they film the movies..... she said it was amazing!

I'd kill to live in Hogwarts. I'd be so cool to play quidditch, cast those awesome spells, and oogle at Malfoy's hotness when he's a teenager. The only thing that wouldn't be cool is he fact that every year they have some sort of problem (students being petrified, giant spiders like right next door, werewolves, dark lords trying to take over the world, etc.)

Here's a review of the new movie that was just posted at that other message board.
I just got back from the midnight showing (I found out about one last minute today). And oh. my. god. It was wonderful. The acting, wonderful. The camerawork, wonderful. The ambience, wonderful. The script, wonderful. I entered more fully into Cuaron's vision of the HP universe than I ever could have Columbus's, for all his attention to canon detail. Yes, several plotlines were left out, all of which I felt were very, very, very important and am sad at seeing missing - the Wolfsbane potion, for one, although I think that might turn up in deleted scenes on the DVD; and the whole story of MMWP and The Prank.
But I'm sure we'll hear plenty about that later on.
I was SO not prepared for how f*****g sexy DAVID THEWLIS is ... whatever foggy picture of Remus Lupin I had in my own mind in no way measures up to this. He is perfect. He is so Lupin. My pleasure in his appearances on screen nearly superceded Snape's appearances ... almost, anyway ;)

okay I am obsessed with Harry Potter!!! I used to degrade it till I read the 1st book and I feel in love. so I learned a lesson of never degrading something like that again. Husband refused to read the books, thought it was stupid. He was in Iraq when I was pregnant so he got to come home after they were born for a month and he bought the 1st book to read on the plane and now he LOVES harry potter. haha. I watched a big thing on the author on A & E the other night and saw how they made the movie and what not. She just finished the last chapter in the 7th book. going to be some deaths
:( I cant wait for her 6th book to come out. all I read when I was pregnant with my twins was Harry potter. going to see the movie tonight. I go to all the harry potters on opening nights.
So would I want to live in Hogwarts??? I would own that school!!! haha.

How about we create a hogwarts right here? I mean, I think that we can go somewhere with the idea of talking and posting through the characters....but also, we can sort of create that world. Tell me if this sounds stupid, but maybe we can "sticky" (???) this thread and have it be a special place where if you have any problems, adventures, etc...embellish them a little and make them more "magickal",then post them here for all of us to see, if you become great friends with someone here at "hogwarts" then join them into your adventures (just like Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Hagrid)
Throw in your own ideas, and let's see if we can make our dreams come true.
