Rick , i have a question for you or anyone else with knowlege of runes.
I am bussy making a set on clay, im just wondering though if it would be alright to paint the runes in yellow. because i see the runes as having solar energy.
What do u think?
And do u know anything about the color meanings of runes if there are any?

Im not clued up on rune and the colour meanings but I think yellow is a great one for insights and power!.. ask Rick though!

Each Rune corresponds with a color (or colors). I don't have a reference with me... check the tables of correspondences in any good Rune book (& you might check some of the on-line sights)...

Mine are in green on wood because to me green symbolizes growth & development & the Great Mother.

...the Runes should be colored red, either with blood, or to represent blood. But blood makes me feel giddy (especially if it's mine...) :D

I have cast the Runes for many years, but I must say that I am unfamiliar with the names that Rick uses for them.
The Runes I use and also used universally in England as far I know are the ancient Nordic Runic alphabet.
They are traditionally made from stone or wood with the glyphs carved upon them and they don't correspond to any colour.

I use the Elder, or Germanic, Futhark (24 Runes). Many folks mix the names from one Futhark to another. I find it a bit confusing.

Thanks Rick, I have only heard of the Nordic set , which were introduced in about 780 AD to England, when that horny helmeted race the Vikings invaded us!!!

For me the runes have always have been carved in stone so the etchings were white but I usually make mine with silver energy for the Goddess and moon energy I am connected to...

Yeah! Guess what's my fav colour?? :D
I thought about that too for my new set but stuck with an oil blend...jojoba with lemongrass, grapefruit, & tangerine.

I can't remember where I've posted this , so I'll just post it here, again...
You can put 9 drops of blood into your paint, & that 'sanctifies' it for 'staining'. You can also use the paint in other workings that may call for using blood.

Hadn't thought of that one; don't know why, as I see runes carved on gemstones all the time, and I own a set carved on bloodstone. I've been more concerned with the wood used. My husband is a stickler for using his own blood in coloring the sigils if he'll be using the runes himself. I'm like Rick; just letting my blood for bloodwork at the doctor's makes me faint.
Well, traditionally for some cultures, yellow is a color of opening up, clarity, new day, new opportunities....as long as you are clear on your archetypes, then I'd say "go for it!". Good luck/robbie

:woah: We've ran into a couple of cats down around Sherman who use, shall we say, various and sundry other body fluids when making their wares, including runes. You know, those runes do LOOK great, but....well, I've got this hang-up about sticking my hand in someone else's fluid, so to speak...blood is one thing, but.....:bug:robbie

Well, robbie, once it's dry, & sealed with the ol' clear nail polish... you'll never know the difference... :smooch:

I was always taught that yellow is the colour of education and learning. My dear mama even dressed me and my sister in yellow clothes if we had a quiz in school or around exams.
The aura of a teacher or lecturer often turns yellow as well.
Sounds like an excellent colour for a divination tool. Personally I use acrylic paint and oils on mine. I just don't have the stomach to use anything else :ugh: .

Do you get feelings when doing a casting or see images of some sort? :)
Rick

I know you guys are in different time zones than me, but MAN! the 'lag' was a couple of months!!!! :T
I have missed you both. Each of you add a lot of 'color' to our conversations (yes, pun intended, but sincere).
Vinga, that's very interesting about yellow, I'll have to remember that...
Mythril, personally I'd have to answer your question as 'yes to both'. I get feelings & images (& occasionally a 'little voice'), & use them to 'supplement' the meanings I've learned of the Runes (or whatever medium I'm using to read). Hope that made sense.
