on another post somewhere, someone, (I believe it was bloodorange on the casting circles thread) mentioned summoning.
Is summoning considered the same thing as evocation? Just curious...

As far as I know, no, they're considerably different.

Summoning is drawing something that already exists to you.

Evocation is creating something new.

As I understand,

Summoning is asking something to show up.

Evocation is calling something to show up in front of you, usually in a specified area marked off and set up specifically for that being.

Invocation is calling something to reside in your body (even for just a ritual, ie. calling down the moon).
