Anyone got an idea what these symbols are? I have an idea of what they look like to me, what about you guys?

These symbols were seen in my hands during a Reiki class by my Reiki Master. No explanation was given, as always...left to figure it out for myself, LOL.

Well, what do they represent to you?

Well THAT fell by the wayside pretty quickly, didn't it? The whole "figuring it out for yourself" part?

The first looks like roots of a tree to me. The second, a heart. I would think their meanings combined are stability and balance.

I can only agree: Roots of a tree and a heart were my first ideas, too.

Well being more science orientated, the first symbol to me looks like a synapse which to me would represent communication. I agree with the second one, its looks like a heart.

The first... depends on you. I didn't see tree roots, but an open hand, or maybe a broom. On second look, a throat and shoulders, with lungs inside? Or the front end of a giraffe. ;)

The second is very much heart-shaped... but I also see ears ...

Image 1: A besom, which signifies purification to me, something that is to be expected in healing since you are 'purifying' the body of an ailment.

Image 2: A heart, which symbolizes compassion and love to me, and usuallly healers have compassion to some degree (despite the fact that all magic is based on ego and healing helps to gratify your ego, regardless of intentions).

This is what I saw too! But the second image also said angel wings to me. I am a self dedicated witch and an unwilling reincarnation of and angel.

Just wondering if anyone had any suggestions for uses of these symbols in Reiki healing?

the first one reminded me of a shower head, which brings to mind purification to me,and the second one a heart.

Hand and heart.
Symbols of friendship and love.
But the hand is reaching down, and the heart is broken. Why?

The first one: roots of a tree, a broom/besom or neck+breasts+shoulders.

The second one: heart, or twins facing each other in the womb (which would go with the tree-part = tree of life in the placenta).

In the first one I see a house or home

The second gives me the impression of parting of ways or a breaking of some kind.

Were these symbols meant to be interperetted together or seperatly, and is that the correct order that they appeared in?

Ditto -- on all counts.

The symbols were seen seperately on different hands. I never thought that maybe they went together...

Well, with no knowledge of which hand they were on, my theory is that perhaps the heart appeared on your projective hand and the besom on your receptive hand. In a sense you are filling the individual with love and healing energy with your projective hand, and with your receptive hand sucking/removing all the negativity with your receptive hand.

Ooooh, very perceptive. I will have to find out which one was on which hand!
