Something struck me as odd.. I've had dreams where I've been hit by cars, slashed and etc.. but the pain I feel in a dream.. is that what it really feels like in reality? How does the brain know a feeling we have never felt before?

Past lives is the only thing I can come up with. Maybe you went through those things at another time. I'm not sure. But I have felt pain in dreams, too.

Perhaps it is along the line of phantom pain....

Hmmmm.... Good point. I don't know. I've had dreams that I was giving birth but I don't have kids. Something to ponder on :ahhhh:

I believe if you dream something that you could not possibly know then its a past life expirence because how can you know something you never expirenced?

I always seem to feel pain in my dreams, the worst one was when I got shot in my dream, woke up and found a small round bruise where I had been shot!

I've also had dreams where i've felt pain, and even though some people say it's not possible... i would argue the toss about it - because i KNOW i felt pain! Not sure though if thats how it really feels (for the things we've never expeirence before) my most memorable pain dream was giving birth, it felt like the real thing! It was so real! It scared me about having a second child because it reminded me of the pain i went through, and guess what, i'm pregnant with my 2nd

I had a dream that someone was sawing my legs off with a chain saw.:( I could feel some of the sting from it in the dream, but only for a few moments, because I woke up after that....

Yah, it was weird....:yikes:

Pain in dreams is a very mysterious happening indeed. Mostly, I feel it's related to sensations you have felt in your past and what your mind believes the experience would be like.

Though, other than that, it really is something rather odd to dream of, pain being such an important and powerful part of who we are. But I see it as that dreams you may have involving pain are more your minds way of sort of experimenting with new ideas. It may even be your subconcious' way of trying to tell you to go out and do new things!

But I think perhaps the weirdest sensation in dreams is when you do experience the pain in the dream world...and then wake up with that ache still there for a few moments. Very powerful stuff. :)

Oh no, I'm not normal!!! I don't feel pain in dreams, not physical pain. Emotions, I feel...happy, sad, depressed, miserable, despair, etc...but no physical pain. I have been stabbed, shot, and fallen in dreams and do not remember the pain, nor is there ever any blood, even when I have been stabbed, just cut skin. In fact, I have had hundreds of dreams when I have actually wondered IN the dream why whatever ghastly thing has happened to me doesn't hurt. The strange thing is is that I don't remember pain when I'm awake either. Once it is gone, I don't remember how it felt, and there are periods in my life that I don't remember at all, most of them associated with something physically painful. For instance, my stepfather was an abusive kind of guy when we were little, and I have these memories of being in trouble, but the memories stop right before the spanking or whatever, and as hard as I try, I can't get past the block to remember the whole incident. Hmmm...
