View Full Version : Anti-Witchcraft Website

August 8th, 2001, 11:56 AM
Surfing the web, I came across the following website:

http://www.sounddoctrine.com/ptimes/

Tammy Ritche, the webmistress, bills her site as "Fundamental, Bible-believing, King James 1611 Bible only, Pre-Tribulation, Independent Baptist Christian" It doesn't matter whether you are gay, lesbian, Pagan, Satanist, feminist, Freemason, pro-choice, a supporter of the New World Order, or concerned about Mother Earth. This web site "is disgusted" by your "agenda." She appears link a wide variety of religions with Satanism: "I will continue to speak out against witchcraft, wicca, paganism, satanism and other assorted "fruitcake" "religions". I will not be silenced by the evil minions of Satan and if you practice any of the above rest assured you are a HELPER OF SATAN whether you admit it or not!!!" AOL apparently removed her site because its content violated their standards. She has since moved to the Sound Doctrine website which is sponsored by the Open Door Baptist Church. Their standards must be quite different from AOL's.

She originated a "Say NO to Witchcraft" campaign & pledge on 1999-MAR-24. She promises that it "will continue as long as the Lord Jesus Christ so leds [sic] this ministry to do so." We have not been able to find out what the wording of her pledge is; it does not appear to be on her web site. There is a copyrighted graphic associated with the campaign: she has taken a white ribbon, of the form used to oppose child pornography, and superimposed a phrase: "Say No to Witchcraft in America Campaign." We would show her graphic here, except she does not allow it to be displayed on sites which promote Neopaganism, Satanism or religious tolerance. She threatens legal action that might lead to a $200,000 fine if we show it. You can view it yourself by going to: http://www.sounddoctrine.com/ptimes/nowitch-ribbon.gif

She expressed alarm about the 1997-NOV "Blessed Be and Meet Me in D.C." gathering of Wiccans and other Neopagans in Washington DC. She commented: "These people work 365 days a year to destroy America and corrupt our youth for the devil and Halloween will be their 'all out' day in Washington DC. I want Christians to pray about this and pray that the rituals that will be done at this 'march' in front of the Jefferson Memorial will not adversely affect America. We have enough problems. We don't need witch curses too." [Wiccans don't corrupt youth; most covens will not allow underage persons to join their group. They don't recognize the devil, who is a Christian semi-deity, not a Neopagan one. The rituals performed in Washington were positive ones, for the good of all. And, of course, no curses were recited.]

Some random excerpts from her web site:

She refers to one of the Wiccan deities as "a whorish female 'goddess' (demon) who encourages them to do ANYTHING and everything their sin-sick minds can imagine."

"...make the month of October a whole month of awareness of the dangers and deathtraps of paganism and how it leads one (including your children) into eternal Hell."

"The [Wiccan] lord is not our [Christian] Lord, but the lord of darkness."

There are countless websites of this style on the 'net. Some more amusing then others. Actually I think I've seen that one before. It's been around awhile, and there's nothing to do about it. Evidently the web master is not breaking the rules of his server and thus there's not much to be done.

Getting angry about these sites just harvests negative energy.:(

She's been away for a while... I just consider her a nut... She is a fundamentalist. So I will let her spout her oral diarreha, and ignore her as is my right... I honestly think that she has a much better chance of helping her cause if she was nice, but that's just me....

Tammy has been around for quite a while. I have had run-ins with her (on the net) myself. She used to send me some pretty vile e-mail, in the name of her God of course.

You will not change her mind or her agenda, but it's good to know that there are people out there like that because then you can be better prepared when you are confronted by them.

The only thing I can say is to not respond to her because she will just twist anything you say and she will have your e-mail address, that is not a good thing.

She is not rational, IMHO, and cannot be reasoned with.

Just my 2 pennies.

The worst thing about this is that not only people of ' the same mind' will follow her on the bandwagon, but also children who might be around (or in contact with) this woman.
I have already been asked my opinion by kids who surf the net, on rather or not I agree with something. The kids I know are naturally curious about religions. And to call attention to themselves, will jump on the bandwagon and condemn others. Acceptance of ones peers and mentors is a powerful thing.
Brainwashing kids with that kind of 'fundalmentalist' thing is ... well is it better left unsaid.
Well, that's my rant

Oh wait wait wait wait wait....... ok.. listen to this..
"If America lived by the Ten Commandments
we would not have neo-pagans hugging trees and babbling
about 'Mother earth'. ~Pastor John Hagee~

Hmm.. in the bible.. I'm not sure where or exactly what it says.. but something about when Jesus comes back (ridin through the clouds and all that stuff) that even the rocks will cry with happiness. And, hello.. they believe their God made this earth... soooooo.... umm.. they support the destruction of Earth or what? I'm confused here. I think my condition is completely lost. LOL
The more I read this the more mad I get. I know I should just laugh it off.. but it's the ignorant people like this that make the world a scary place to live in. I mean, how can you worship a deity and not know it?? I do not worship Satan.. I don't believe in Satan. If I believed in Satan, I would be Christian, not Wiccan. As someone said earlier.. Satan is a Christian thing.. not a witchcraft thing. Ugh.. sometimes I reallllllllly wish people would just open their eyes. If they actually read the bible and understood the meaning of it, none of them would judge us, or hate us, or be misinformed about us. I think the bible is a wonderful story, like a fairy tale with a moral, about being kind to one another and not judging people and living in harmony. Thats just what I got out of it.

If we accept these words as true, and surely we should, then it is clear that heaven will contain many who are not Christians, and hell will contain many who are! Clearly, throughout the Gospels, Jesus Christ sets forth the criteria for entrance into the kingdom of heaven, and those criteria include love, kindness, forgiveness, and a refusal to judge others:

"For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the same measure you use, it will be measured back to you." (Matthew 7:2)

It's probably true heaven and hell will have mixed company. And Jesus did not set forth a refusal to judge others as one of the criteria..if you look at all the Bible has to say about Judging, there are commandments to judge and not to, but that's a whole thread by itself........

I beileve it was said ealier, but I'd like to agree with it and say it again:

To get angry over this is just to feed energy to her. The best way to fight it is simply with truth and love. For if we fight with anything more, than we start to become exactly what she claims we are.

Not that I wouldn't love to organize a ping party and knock that server off-line... But it wouldn't be the right thing to do.

Besides, every religion has fundamentalists like this, so it's not like it's anything new.

This environmentalist dogma is promoted and pushed on society as a whole but especially to children in public schools. Further, the entertainment medium is being used to its fullest potential as a tool to indoctrinate children with the idea of saving the earth. Worse yet, children are even being taught through television that the earth is our goddess and we are to worship and revere her. A common example of this hidden indoctrination is a "children's" cartoon called CAPTAIN PLANET. Just about every television market in America, large and small, carries this program at one time or another. In the prologue of the show children are shown an angry goddess looking down on her earth and casting five special rings of power down to five special young people. A demonstration of the powers of each follows ending with the rings being joined together. From this Captain Planet is formed "from the dust of the earth" to fly off around the earth stopping the earth's enemies from plundering and polluting mother earth.

ok. . . correct me if I"m wrong. . . she's scared of a cartoon?! Why doesn't she just go watch animated Noah's Ark or something? I'm surprised she hasn't got a rant on anime there, too. SHEESH what's wrong with teaching children to not pollute.

Oh. . . I bet she has a thing against power rangers, too, because of Zordon LMAO I bet she's running around telling about the evils of hotwheels and barbies (ok barbies, evil? could be debated ;) )

And I never noticed the pagan theme in Captain Planet!! Wow, I should thank her! I'll have to buy DVDs of it for my kids some day, I grew up with it!! ^_^

I bet she's one of those people who wants teachers leading Christian prayers in school.

I have a close friend who is Christian. She is the sweetest person I know, and I love her to death. But this person gives christians a bad name. If you're into your religion, that's wonderful! but try to stay true to what you claim you are. Christianity is supposed to be about love and acceptance and welcoming, isn't it? Don't God and Jesus want you to come to them willingly, and after choosing them IN YOU HEART? I may have that wrong, but I thought it was all about love. . .? With so many biases, how is that unconditional love? Or is christianity about selectively loving others?

any locals who want to clear that up for me? Is she a bad egg or are the nice ones rarities?

Myst
August 9th, 2001, 04:42 PM

Hmm.

And I wouldn't really group her with most Christians. They're mostly reasonably nice folks from my experience. Maybe a little ... closed minded ... about certain things, but for the most part they're all right.

Then again, a lot of 'Christians' aren't really technically Christians anyway, according to the bible. They haven't accepted Jesus Christ into their heart, they just go to church because that's what their family expects them to do, or something equally silly.

Jesus spoke on both sides of the Judging subject. There are circumstances where you are commnaded to judge, and things where you are not to. It takes a full reading of all of the quotes to grasp the fullness of the message. Jesus himself was far more judgemental than most would like him t have been. But, like I said, that's a whole other thread. Maybe I'll put together a word study and post it, if people would like.

She really does give a bad name to Christians. Me, I call my self an "Independent Christian" because I am somewhat Christian at heart, but I don't really believe in organized religion. Even so, she has offended me as a fellow Christian...but at the same time, I couldn't stop laughing! 8O To think that she can be outwitted by a fifteen year old is downright sad...

And as for this "Satan" that causes all bad things...*sheaks her head* Forget it... "Satan" does not make people gay or treehuggers...and from my point of view...God couldn't care less whether or not people are gay or like to care for Mother Earth.

Yep yep, I understand and I agree. But it sure did make me feel better! Teehee! 8O I know that everyone has their own paths and that if I can follow my own, then she can follow hers. But sometimes I feel like I have to stand up for what I believe in. I understand that she's somewhat content in her prejudiced little corner, but when she begins to slam other people for their religion that harshly, it makes me feel like I should say something back. Yeah, perhaps I am sinking to her level, but frankly, so what? I'm not going to give her the satisfaction of saying those harsh words without feeling what it's like.

So what if I'm childish...

There is no need for anyone to apologize... YOu were not bashing anything, you were simply stating your opinion and it was more of a scream because the person was just so arrogant and dumb-witted that they had no right to speak of anything of the occult. Then they go off and try to lecture you telling you you are wrong, and what you are saying is to just let them lecture us and tell us this. I am sorry but many of us do not have the privilege to be as strong and rightous as you do. To just sit there and let someone do this. BAH, I would never. It is just like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. He did not sit by and let someone tell him he was wrong! NO he said what needed to be said and made a difference, and that is all we are trying to do...

Oh I see, so you agree then that it's ok for the lady who creates this website to also share her opinions and that she's also not bashing... Last time I checked MLK didn't have people gang up to go insult a person on another forum by calling them a "poor pathetic soul", a "bi***", and the like. Maybe I need to review history though? People who attack someone personally on a web forum for sharing her own views are NOT comparable to a man who worked towards changing the world for his people.

Besides that, no one did say apologies were needed. I just said attacking someone for intolerance by being intolerant isn't logical IMHO

It is a much different Case, I have not seen one Pagan site that has Bashed Christianity. And if there are them, there are probably more about Christianity Vs. Paganism. I feel that everyone has the right to express. But they first need to know about what they are expressing. If they just go out blindly and yell and scream at something they do not understand, then what do u think will happen?

Great point, Mist. If no one ever stood up for anything, where would we be now?? I think to sit back and take a beating for no reason doesn't make any sense. Would any of you sit back and let someone crush your spirit? Hell, I wouldn't. It takes courage to say what you feel, so kudos to all of you who replied with me. You don't need to apologize. It was wrong of her, and even though it may be "bad" to talk back, like I said, so what? It doesn't matter. Hate spawns more hate, and that's what's wrong with that woman. She was so hateful she caused hate among the board. But you know what? If she's gonna' hate me because I love Mother Earth, let her! It's not going to get her anywhere, and even if I don't get anywhere by posting on her stupid site, it sure does make me feel a hell of a lot better.

And if she has a right to say what she feels, then I certainly have a right to say what I feel.

I have seen Pagan sites that bash Christianity - in fact I've even seen people post here and bash it. IS there a law that says there must be exactly __ (insert number here) Pagans bashing Christianity? This lady has probably had dozens or hundreds of Pagans try to explain to her what they think, in various degrees of politeness. Just like a hundred people telling you Paganism is evil and Christianity is the only true path will not change your mind, nor will you change hers. Do you think no one has spoken out against her before? Do you think your speaking out against her will change it now? Probably not. Just like you, she has her own opinions. What is gained by harvesting this hate but negativity - you can return her hate by hating her back in a public forum or you can work positively to your OWN improvement. MLK did not "hate" the people who opposed to them or attack them publicly - what he DID do was work positively to change himself and thus the environment for his people. If he had concentrated on hate or returning it to those who disagreed he never would've gotten anywhere.

The only thing we're doing by bringing her hate here is proving her point ("those darn Pagans, always evil, always bashing other religions", etc.)

As Pagans, we know like attracts like, and if you want all that negative energy and hate around you go ahead, just don't expect me to agree with it. :)

I find that woman to be Un-educated in that matter. If she had done more research my opinions would change... But it is sad... TO know that there are people out there who do bash things so. I'm sorry too Raven, if I made you think that I thought you were here to argue with me. I guess I misunderstood. That's the problem with the internet. You can never tell tone of voice, which is very important in conversations. I completely understood the importance of not harboring hate, and I am sorry that you feel like I am just trying to be hateful because I don't like what a stranger said. Sometimes I feel the need to stand up for what I believe in, because I have seen much prejudice in my life amongst people that I love, and it hurts me more to sit back and watch it be taken like that than to tell the people that it's not right. I know very well that she can say what she wants, Mist can say what he wants, and you can say what you want. But please, if you're going to try to explain to me why it's good not to spawn more hate, then I at least get to try and explain to you why I did what I did.

No Way Jose!!! Your post above, in relation to the whole thread is priceless. This is a perfect example of how we are learning and growing as a community. We had hurt feelings and emotions flying around and yet we found middle ground and came out of it in one piece, still friends with our fellow members. It is a great example to current and future members in my opinion. A similar groundbreaking experience happend in the thread London Car Bombing...I wouldn't remove them for anything in the world, as I see them as very positive, therapeutic threads!!! There is something wonderful happening here. We are beginning to really understand how our comments affect others...and we are learning how to disagree without anger! Greetings everyone. This is my first post.

On topic now...
The overall problem with this Anti-Witchcraft site and its' creator is ignorance and intolerance. Are we wrong if we are intolerant as well?
There can be a fine line between being intolerant of another's beliefs and being intolerant of an injustice. This site promotes violence and persecution upon those not associated with the Christian belief system. The worship of anything other than the Christian god and Jesus Christ goes against this person's belief, so she fights it. If she thinks this is her job, so be it, but this battle is fought in entirely the wrong way....with lies.
Basically, the only constructive way to fight back is with the truth. The site's creator is most likely far beyond being brought to the truth. Her beliefs will not even let her consider it. Her actions cause the very thing Pagans have been fighting for quite some time. Fear. Fear to be open with their beliefs without consequences.
So, the best everyone can do is try some constructive criticism towards a person who causes an injustice, and, if that does not work, fight it in a different way....by promoting an understanding to those who are willing to listen.

I don't agree with her tactics.....but..........

Ok evidently I worded that wrong. I mean truth as in truth of accepting others' paths or at least letting others live their own life, not accepting our path is right and hers is wrong :) :) :)

Ooooh, gotcha'. ;) I agree with you there. To me, there really is no "right" or "wrong" path...because I believe in the end it won't matter. You are right about her accepting the fact that others have their own beliefs.

*Sigh* I'm through with the site...it's not doing anything for me...all it did was spark anger, and that's not good. Perhaps this woman will never learn to live with others, which is fine with me, just so long as she doesn't hurt anyone in the process...

Well what can one say.
I had a good look through the site and found it all very ammusing, especially that Hitler was a pagan.
I laughed my ass off at that one.
I also sent them an email just to let them know that I had a great laugh and that their site was a great joke. I wonder if I will make it to their pagan hate mail section, oh I hope so.
Bright Blessings everyone

I wrote her an email....thanking her for the comic relief

Ok. As sick and twisted as her words may be. She has every right to say them. Just like you and I can sit here and call her an uneducated, backwards fundie. But *!t(hing about it isn't going to get her to not see life that way and it surely isn't going to get the site taken down. Like Myst said earlier..........she's not breaking any rules.

Ignore it. Don't read it. Maybe one day she'll realize that not everyone likes mean old school marm act.

Ummm... Hitler was into pagan religions and occult practices. He chose the Norse path. (surprise, surprise)

Not saying that I agree with their point of view on any of this.

My point is to show that we cannot dismiss everything that they say just because we disagree with their point of view.

Yes but his view of the Norse beliefs was seriously warped. Most Asatuar would kick his ass if he were spouting that stuff today. Neo Nazi's should not mess with Astruar.... :D

True enough... But to anyone who is not really up on what us pagans and heathens are calling each little "tradition", they lump us together just like many of us do to the christians. Hence, while it was a warped kind of pagan, it can still be considered a pagan religion or practice because it falls outside of the judeo-christian-muslim context that most of the world sees it from...

"Religion is a solace to many and it is conceivable that some religion, somewhere, is Ultimate Truth. But being religious is a often a form of conceit. The faith in which I was brought up assured me that I was better than other people; I was "saved" and they were "damned"- we were in a state of grace and the rest were "heathens". ...”
“That entitled them to look down on outsiders. Our hymns were loaded with arrogance- self-congratulation on how cozy we were with the Almighty and what a high opinion he had of us, what hell everybody else would catch some Judgement Day.”
Jubal, “Stranger in a Strange Land” by Robert A. Heinlein

Don't ask, it just felt appropriate. 8O

True but Pagans such as he are in the minority thank the Gods!

I love the name Jubal because it reminds me of moonshine...

Well, I got a good laugh out of her demented site until I came to her opinion of the Goddess. That pissed me off. Then I came here and read what others had to say and was vastly cheered up :)

Well, to balance it out, Hitler also wanted to be a priest at one point, and studied both Catholic and Protestant Christianity obsessively. He was as crazed for biblical relics as Raiders of the Lost Ark suggested, and had his own cadre of archaeologists hired to "prove" that the real tribes of Israel were actually the Aryan folks in Germany.

To over simplify his beliefs as Norse Pagan is incredibly misleading. Ditto calling him a Catholic, for that matter. He was a megalomaniac who used whatever religious doctrine he could to manipulate the people around him.

"conservative christian values are these- humility, mercy, compassion, love, honesty, etc. nowhere in the bible does christ encourage his followers to be intolerant, greedy, bigots, nowhere in the bible does christ encourage his followers to lie, slander, steal, or be divisive along economic or cultural lines. preserving the ‘american way’ of greed, cruelty, environmental destruction, racism, sexism, homophobia, etc. would seem to have nothing to do with christ. christ is wonderful, loving, compassionate, and honest. today’s right wing evangelical christians seem to be insecure, hate-filled creatures and although I should probably pity them, right now I’m angry."
Moby, "Everything is Wrong" Essay 2

The CD was sitting on the kitchen counter (my dad really likes Moby) and I thought it was an interesting quote. I’m just having fun with these today. :D But I think he’s right, and he put it a lot better then I could have.
That is how it’s written. With all the punctuation, and capitalizations (or lack therefore ;) ) he put in there. I’m not being stupid/lazy.

Moby's cool even if he is an odd one.....

I still wanna know what a perverted bible is! One where they cut out all the boring stuff and expand on the stories of Jacob, Lot, David, Susanna, Ruth, etc. ?

I too agree that the best way to deal with these biggots is just t laugh at them.Though i also believe that we have the right to get angry at them. If we werent meant to get angry i dont think it would be a part of our being. i would also like to point out that Hitler was much more crazy then they are and because no one did anything about him we got *the holocaust*. Just saying that we should still keep our guard up.

Thread necromancy is an evil thing :p Seriously, the last post in this thread was almost 3 years ago.

Her site is dead now. No, it's NOT a parody, yes she is serious, but now she keeps to her own little forum and doesn't go out and bother anyone, and no I will not tell you where it is.

alas... there isn't much to say that hasn't already been said or that she said herself except this:

THIS was the Christian church that I knew and that I followed at one point in time. Someone mentioned brainwashing kids... yup. I was 11 when I joined. That was why it took me years to accept who I truely was and even longer to get over the anger that I held for Christianity.

We should start a "Say YES to Witchcraft Campaign Across America." We could set up a shop on Cafe Press and everyone could get a t-shirt! I can't stand ignorant, ill-educated, and simply rude individuals like her. What kind of a god would look at her and say "yes, you're better than them, simply because you're christian - and they're not." If such a god exists, then I'll gladly go to "hell."
