Lol, Kay! By the way I love your avatar.
And yes, it's very foolish that people are so wary and narrowminded about something that they know next to nothing about....that's why we learn.

I think people are afraid of you and your religions because they don’t know you ore your religions. But if they would take the time to learn you better they will understand you.
And Kay, I like frogs.

Its all because they've been brainwashed by the church, sad to say.

I think people are always afraid of anything they don't understand or anything that is "different". We're both, unfortunately.

Hey some of those people weren't turned into frogs, they were really frogs trapped in a human body! No seriously people are often just ignorant sometimes, but the good news is, it is getting better.

I think it's because in most cases - the people that are in the public eye who claim to be witches or wiccan have no idea what they are talking about, and that's how they got in the spotlight in the first place. They did something stupid, the news cameras arrived, and they said "Oh, yup. I'm a witch." You never see a healer, or a reader, or anything positive in the media. But, that can be said for just about anything, not just paganism. Mmmmmm, ranty.
On a side note, my husband won't take me to nice restaurants anymore, because the last time we went out, I danced my frog's legs across the table and sang "hello my baby, hello my honey, hello my ragtime gal . . . " He has no sense of humor ;)

This is really it in a nutshell. It's not fair, but human nature is what it is. People tend to dislike things they don't understand - it's not rational, but humans aren't wholly rational creatures. Religion/faith/whatever touches the emotional part of us very strongly, and we see that in some people's reactions to others who don't share their beliefs. Always has been that way, not just against pagans. Minority religions of any sort (ask Christians in Sudan or northern Nigeria, for instance) are hardly ever welcomed wholeheartedly.

I always liked the fear saying from the book Dune by Frank Herbert...
"I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain."
If only more people would read that and understand what it means to face your fears... *sighs*
