To me I have always found astrology great to know where someone comes from, their strengths, and places where they can excel. Astrology as a divination not really.
What about you? I am new and haven't seen much about how people see astrolgy here as a whole.
Thanks for answering :)

I am far from being adept at astrology but I agree with you. psychologically It really can give you insight as to why people behave as they do. but I find myself forgiving people for their flaws more-not that It gives anyone the license to behave badly, it just helps me understand.

Another Answer #1 here... :) I think it's great for discovering your strengths and weaknesses, as well as showing how two people will interact with each other by comparing their charts... I love those who have blended it with psychology, such as Liz Greene and others, who use it in counseling.
I'm not much for prediction at all... As I've said in other posts, the most you can predict is the "emotional weather"... You can see what energies will be in play, but not exactly how they will manifest (unless you're also a psychic! :) ). One can always look at the chart of a major event and find an aspect that seems to describe it, because hindsight is 20/20. But that same event will not happen every time that particular aspect comes around... For example, lots of charts have been done for 9/11 and Princess Di's fatal accident; but charts similar to those will more than likely not have the same "results". That's the wonderful thing of free will: every astrological aspect has an infinite number of possible ways it can express itself, as do we. :)

I voted #1 as well, but had you asked me two weeks ago I would have told you I didn't believe it could even do that. However, thanks to Kadynas' wonderful CoT class, I'm beginning to see how this really does mean something. :)

For a fascinating read on the prediction of 9/11 (yes, before it happened) check out http://www.new-library.com/zoller/features/ . I practice predictive astrology much more than psychological astrology. Last time I checked, I had about a 65% accuracy rate. Anyone who says they are 100% accurate is telling you lies. Some of my recent successes include my last pregnancy (though I was off on the timing, I said 8 months and it was really 8 days), finding lost items, and predicting the weather for a party.

I decided 1 & 2 were about right. I read and followed several Astrology periodicals for about 15 years, now I've not really had much to do with Astrology for awhile. It still interests me, that's why I am in the class with Kadynas (and love it!). I consider Astrology both a science and an art.

I picked one and two.
My first foray into astrology came when I was trying to disprove it to my mother (I'm such a dork!). I like to do things right, so I taught myself how to cast a birth chart. In this case, my own. Needless to say I was pretty irked when I ran into too many "correct hits" on my personality. I went on to do other charts for my family members, and discovered the same thing.
So now I'm exploring astrology, and am finding it fascinating!
To Kadynas: I also want to add that I'm really happy that you volunteered to teach an astrology class. Even though I'm not a beginner 'per se', I'm very inexperienced and am overjoyed to be able to look at and compare so many peoples' birthcharts and opinions. It's not something that would have been available, normally.

Another vote for option one...I think it's more of a psychological thing really. My divination cards are actually based on the symbolism of the signs, planets and houses, so I do think divination systems can be adapted from astrology, but I don't much think of it as a divinatory system in itself. :)

I've never liked astrology too much to predict the day ahead of me. I like it for self-knowledge, and knowledge of others. I wouldn't read a horroscope until the day is nearly done :nuhuh:

Newspaper horoscopes are also only based on your Sun sign, ignoring the rest of your chart, so they're almost never accurate. :) Of course if they had to take /all/ the planets into account, the horoscope section would be it's /own/ section of the paper, rather than the little box it is now!
